Samsung opens third factory to meet Galaxy S6 edge demand

The Galaxy S6 edge is clearly the Galaxy S6 variant that has captured the attention of consumers, and rightly so, since it is one of the best-looking devices in smartphone history. Demand for the S6 edge has been pretty high worldwide, resulting in shortage of stock in quite a few markets. Samsung has acknowledged this shortage in the past, and it is now working on meeting the demand by opening a third factory to produce the handset, according to Bloomberg.

The new factory was slated to put its gears into motion in July, but Samsung has reportedly kicked things off early in order to be able to produce more units of the Galaxy S6 edge. The company is now creating around 5 million units of the device each month, which is a considerable increase over the 2 million units it was making till now. The newer production capacity will probably be enough to tackle the shortfall, and will hopefully help Samsung meet the reported 55 million+ Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge sales target.
