Galaxy Note 5 will reportedly feature a USB Type-C port

Samsung is not due to launch the Galaxy Note 5 before September this year but already there are countless rumors and reports about what we can expect from the company’s next flagship device. A new report claims that the Galaxy Note 5 is going to have a USB Type-C port, a first for the company’s mobile devices, which will exponentially increase data transfer speeds to and from the Galaxy Note 5.

USB 3.1 Type-C offers a transfer rate of 10Gbps which is double that of the much more common USB 3.0 standard, Type-C cables also offer 20 volts and 5 amps of power as opposed to 5 volts and 1.8 amps of its predecessor. This means users won’t have to wait for as long as they previously did for data transfer and charging. Another major advantage of USB Type-C is the fact that there’s no “right” way to plug the cable into the port, it’s reversible, so users don’t have to fiddle around with the cable. They can plug it straight in and be on their way.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 5 at IFA 2015 in Berlin this September. The handset may feature a 2K or 4K Super AMOLED display with S Pen, an octa-core Exynos 7422 processor and possibly a 4100mAh battery.
