Rumor: RAW support and TouchWiz RAM fix to debut on the Galaxy S6 edge Plus?

Well, the Android 5.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge has started rolling out, but the latest information we have received from our insiders might just make you pull out your hair in frustration. We have been told that the support for RAW in the camera app and a fix for the RAM issues that the S6 duo suffers from will debut on the Galaxy S6 edge Plus, and might not be a part of the Android 5.1 update for the S6 and S6 edge before the S6 edge Plus goes up for sale.

Now, none of this is confirmed, but it might just make sense considering how Samsung has a habit of focusing on newer devices often at the expense of existing ones. However, if this is true, we’re not sure what good would come out of reserving the fix for the memory management issues for a newer device – it’s not a user-facing feature or function and just shouldn’t depend on whether a device is old or new. In fact, even support for shooting in RAW is a feature that a majority of consumers will never care about, and it would certainly not make for much of a marketing point considering it is already available on competing devices (like the LG G4.)

We can only hope that our information turns out to be incorrect – after the larger battery on the Galaxy S6 Active, this would be yet another insult to everyone who shelled out their hard earned money on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge. We’ll be doing all we can to get more details on the matter, and keeping our fingers crossed that Samsung doesn’t go forward with what could be a very disappointing move by the company.
