[Pictures] Here’s a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 running Android 6.0.1

Samsung has been pretty mum about the Marshmallow update for its most current flagships, the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. The company chose to work on Android 6.0 for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge first (rightly so, as the Galaxy S line is considerably more popular than other Galaxy lineups), involving users of the devices in a beta program to better test the new software.

But Samsung has likely been working on Marshmallow for the Note 5 and S6 edge+ along with the original S6 duo, and a tipster has sent us a few images of Android 6.0.1 running on the first metal and glass Note. We weren’t told if this is a test firmware or a final version that will soon roll out over the air, but we can see the changes in the interface implemented here are similar to those on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Well, mainly the white and blue status bar theme, public opinion on which has been rather divided.

Other than that this is mostly the same software that is currently running on the Note 5. Our tipster says the phone feels smoother after the update, but considering the Note 5 is already as smooth as can be on Android 5.1.1, that is probably just a placebo effect. The most important question that now needs answering is: When will Marshmallow roll out to the Galaxy Note 5 and the similarly sized Galaxy S6 edge+? AT&T is reportedly doing a small beta test in the US, but there isn’t much information available about the same.

Check out Android 6.0.1 on the Note 5 in the pictures below, and let us know what you think!
