[Poll] What do you think about smartphone benchmarks?

Being a Samsung fan site, we are all too familiar with the fact that device benchmarks never tell the real story. After all, Samsung smartphones and tablets (especially the flagships) were notorious for performing great in benchmarks but offering a rather laggy and stutter-filled software experience, at least until 2015 when the company finally decided to work on software optimization. Samsung was even accused of increasing the clock speed on its phones’ CPU and GPU to get higher benchmark scores, though this is a common practice as every manufacturer wants these tests to be an indication of the highest theoretical performance that a device can offer.

None of the device reviews here at SamMobile include benchmarks, and it’s something that will never change. Of course, we know there are quite a few folks out there that do care about the benchmark scores of their smartphone. Either as a weapon for boasting rights or a way of seeing what their phone is truly capable of, smartphone users do love running those tests, especially after they buy a new phone. Even we here at SamMobile do so, but we simply refrain from putting a benchmark section in our reviews.

There are some who will agree with us, and others who will disagree, so we thought making a poll would be a good idea. So tell us SamMobile readers: Do you care about benchmarks? Do you think they matter in the real world, or do you think they are just a fun thing to do when you get a shiny new smartphone?

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
