Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge don’t come with Galaxy Labs menu in the US

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come with an option to disable the app drawer and put all the apps on the home screen, similar to Apple’s iOS. It’s not a normal option, however – it’s an experimental feature available in the Galaxy Labs menu in the device settings. Galaxy Labs is something like Samsung’s version of Android’s developer options menu and is meant to let users try out a few in-development features, possibly before they become a standard part of Samsung’s software.

But it seems carriers in the US aren’t keen on letting users experiment with their Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, as the units being sold in the country don’t come with the Galaxy Labs menu. It might actually be a good move for the carriers – they don’t want users trying out test features and then calling up customer care to ask for a fix. Of course, we might just be trying to justify something that isn’t justifiable – after all, there was no reason for carriers to hide Download Booster on previous Samsung phones, or for Verizon to remove Smart Manager from the Galaxy S6 and even Samsung Pay from the S7.

But don’t be disappointed about the lack of Galaxy Labs if you’re getting the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge in the US. There are only two options available in Galaxy Labs out of the box, though more options are likely to show up with software updates in the future.
