Samsung launches TV Plus service in Thailand and Vietnam

Samsung has launched its virtual TV channel service, TV Plus, in Thailand and Vietnam. TV Plus was first launched in the company’s homeland South Korea in October. It was met with success with an impressive user retention rate of 80 percent, after which Samsung had announced that it will launch TV Plus in more Asian markets in South East Asia.

TV Plus, which is available on Samsung’s Tizen-based smart TVs, basically emulates the user experience of a regular satellite or set-top box based TV where users can flip through various channels. The service consists of a wide variety of video content ranging from music videos to information to travel.

Samsung is not only focussing on improving picture quality on its TVs but also focussing on the software part as well as content that’s available for its users. The company is expected to move to QLED technology, which is said to offer better performance than LCD or OLED displays, for its next-generation premium TVs in the next two years.
