Samsung starts rolling out Marshmallow update for the first-generation Galaxy A7

Samsung has just started pushing out the long-awaited Marshmallow upgrade to all unlocked variants of the first-generation Galaxy A7 located in Russia. The manufacturer also uploaded a new version of the handset’s user manual to its Download Center. The support booklet has been updated with instructions on how to use some of the features that Android 6.0.1 brings to the device, including Doze and Google Now on Tap. Unfortunately, though, the Themes Store still appears to be missing from the firmware, so users are stuck with the handful of default overlays that Samsung bundles onto the unit when it leaves the factory.

If you own a Galaxy A7 and would like to see if the update is ready for your handset, simply head into the following menus: Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update Now. It looks like first-generation Galaxy A5 owners are next in line to receive the Marshmallow treatment as Samsung also released a new version of its user manual, indicating that a rollout is right around the corner. Sadly, a specific date remains unknown, but the firm usually tends to get the wheels turning within a couple of days of publishing a revised user guide. As always, be sure to check back for more information as we’ll let you know as soon the OTA starts making the rounds.
