Samsung wants to set up a Tizen Academy in Telangana, India

Samsung’s first commercially available Tizen smartphone, the Samsung Z1, was quite successful in India. Now, Samsung wants to set up a Tizen Academy in the Telangana state of India.

After the success of Samsung’s first Tizen skilling program in India, the smartphone giant wants to utilize talent from Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) for the Tizen Academy. Deepak Bharadwaj, Vice President (South West Asia) at Samsung, said that the company wants to continue the efforts to create a steady stream of talent to enhance the innovation system at T-Hub.

Samsung and the state of Telangana signed an MoU last year to offer engineering graduates a skill development course based on Tizen operating system. The skill development course consisted of 500 graduates and 75 faculty members. Students created over 90 Tizen apps, which were uploaded to the Tizen Store, and 13 apps were shortlisted by Samsung Research Institute, Bengaluru.
