Verizon updates the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge with FM radio support

Verizon has sent out a new software update for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge which brings a couple of new features to the handset. The update adds FM radio supports enabling users to listen to their favorite local radio stations. Other carriers like T-Mobile have already enabled FM radio on these flagships so it’s nice to see Verizon finally coming through as well. To tune into their favorite local radio stations users will require the NextRadio app. Bear in mind that this isn’t a pre-installed app and is not included in this update, but can be easily downloaded from the Google Play Store.

The handsets now get support for Samsung’s Barcode Beaming Service as well. It eliminates the need for a separate barcode scanning app, it’s built right into the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge and provides improved scanning of barcodes on event tickets, digital coupons, library cards, loyalty, and membership cards. It enables easy scanning of on-device barcodes and is directly integrated with Samsung Pay.

Software version MMB29M.G930VVRU2APG5 is now rolling out for the Galaxy S7 and MMB29M.G935VVRU2APG5 for the Galaxy S7 edge. Verizon has also added some bug fixes to this update, users should expect reduced HD Voice call drops.
