Galaxy J7 (2016) receives April security patch in India

Samsung is rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy J7 (2016) in India. It’s a minor update that weighs in at just under 26MB. As you can probably guess by the size of this update, it doesn’t bring much in the way of new features. What it does bring is the April security patch.

The April security patch features fixes for 49 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) in the Android OS as well as fixes for 16 vulnerabilities in Samsung’s own software. The patch includes a fix for a bug that could have allowed hackers to access crash log files.

Most of the patches that have been disclosed in the security patch are listed as “privately disclosed” to prevent hackers from exploiting them in the time it takes for the firmware to be properly distributed to all users.

Firmware version J710FXXU3AQD4 is now being rolled out for the Galaxy J7 (2016) in India. Those who haven’t received an over-the-air update notification already should expect it to pop up on their device very soon.
