AT&T releases a major firmware update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+

Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners on AT&T are receiving a major firmware update today. The carrier has bundled together a lot of the stuff that has been released for these two handsets over the past couple of months into one package. The update also brings some visual tweaks to the handsets.

Users will notice a small dot on the left side of the navigation bar. They can tap on it to show or hide the navigation bar. Samsung rolled out this little change with a firmware update over two months back and AT&T has bundled it into its latest release for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

The carrier is now rolling out firmware version G950USQU1AQGL and G955USQU1AQGL for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively. It includes the August security patch which is the latest security maintenance release for the company’s devices.

The update also adds support for Google’s Daydream virtual reality platform to the handsets. Google officially confirmed that Daydream support was rolling out to Samsung’s 2017 flagships three weeks ago.

AT&T’s latest release for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ include network performance enhancements as well as Bluetooth, Email, Calendar and Samsung Know updates. It’s rolling out the firmware updates now and they should be live for all users across the US soon.
