Galaxy Note 5 updated with November security patch in Indian subcontinent

Just a couple of days after releasing an update with the November security patch for the Galaxy Note 8 in India and its neighboring countries, Samsung is pushing out a similar update to the Galaxy Note 5, the company’s last proper Note flagship. The update is rolling out to the device in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka; it’s a pretty small download of 20 MB (at least in India), and other than the November patch, there’s nothing of importance here.

Galaxy Note 5 November patch out in the Indian subcontinent

The November patch itself, of course, is quite important, as it fixes a security flaw with the Wi-Fi protocol that is present on almost every modern Wi-Fi-enabled device. The patch also fixes 61 Android vulnerabilities and six found in Samsung’s software. Of course, it’s not a good sign that the November patch is coming in after the month is over, but that seems to be the norm right now for most of Samsung’s flagships from the last two years. Hopefully, the December patch will arrive sooner; it has already started rolling out to the Galaxy A5 (2016).

To get the update, open the Settings » Software update menu on your Note 5 and hit Download updates manually. You can also download the firmware from our database and use a PC for updating. The build number after the update will be N920GDDS3CQK1.
