Galaxy S6 edge+ December security patch rolling out now

Samsung may have detailed the January 2018 security patch today but that doesn’t mean it’s done rolling out the December 2017 patch to supported devices. It’s about time that this handset received the December patch. Samsung started rolling it out for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in several markets across the globe around three weeks ago.

The security patch for the month of December 2017 includes fixes for 11 critical vulnerabilities in the Android operating system as well as fixes for 10 vulnerabilities discovered in Samsung’s software. It also includes fixes for dozens of moderate and low-risk Android OS vulnerabilities.

Samsung is rolling out firmware version G9280ZCU2CQL1 for the Galaxy S6 edge+ in China. It may be a while before this handset receives the December security patch in other markets. This particular update is now available for download from our firmware section.

Galaxy S6 edge+ owners can check to see if the update is available for their device by navigating to the Download updates manually option in the Software update menu of the Settings app.
