It was reported last week that Samsung may soon launch the Galaxy A8 Star in India. A teaser went up on Amazon India a few days ago which suggested that it may not be long before this handset is available for purchase in the country. That has been confirmed today as the official product page for the Galaxy A8 Star has now gone live on Amazon India.
Galaxy A8 Star price and release date
This isn’t exactly a new device because Samsung is already selling it as the Galaxy A9 Star in China. The device has also been marketed as the Galaxy A8 Star in some other markets and that’s also the moniker that the company has chosen for its launch in India.
The Galaxy A8 Star features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ Infinity Display. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The handset also features a 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel dual rear camera. Samsung is marketing it as an “IntelliCam” since the rear camera setup will be capable of adjusting itself intelligently to improve results in both day and night conditions.
The 24-megapixel front camera is aided by features such as Smart Beauty, Pro Lighting and AR Stickers. Additional features include a fingerprint sensor at the back, face recognition, NFC-only Samsung Pay and a 3,700mAh battery. The device ships with Android Oreo out of the box. Bixby Voice, Vision, Reminder and Home are also onboard.
The product page on Amazon India also confirms how much this device is going to cost. The Galaxy A8 Star price in India is Rs. 34,990 or ~$500. The handset will be available for purchase in black exclusively from Amazon India starting August 27.
