Second Galaxy Note 9 July security update rolling out in some countries

Samsung has released a second Galaxy Note 9 update with the July 2019 security patch in some markets. The new update brings software version N960FXXU3CSG3 and is available in Austria, Netherlands, Greece, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, United Kingdom, Switzerland, and a few other countries. The first July security update had software version N960FXXS3CSFC for these countries and didn’t bring anything other than the latest security fixes, but the second update may include some bug fixes.

That’s because the new software version has the letter U after ‘XX’, which usually denotes that some changes have been made under the hood. When it’s an ‘S’, as was the case for the previous July update, it’s usually just a security patch. Hopefully, this means Samsung has fixed the issues some users had faced taking pictures using Night mode, namely the failure of the camera to sometimes save pictures. Naturally, the best way to test this is to take some Night mode photos once the update is installed on your device to see if the error comes up as many times as it did before (or at all).

The new July update for the Note 9 doesn’t seem to be rolling out over the air just yet, so you will have to use Samsung’s Smart Switch software on Windows or macOS to upgrade your phone. Alternatively, you can upgrade by downloading the latest firmware from our database. We’ll let you know once the update goes live over the air and also if we find anything notably new or different on our Galaxy Note 9; you can do the same if you find anything by letting us know through the comments section.
