Samsung is working on a 5G variant of the Galaxy Book Flex

Samsung had unveiled two laptops—Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion—last year with sleek designs and QLED screens. Three months ago, they became available for purchase in Germany, the US, and other markets. Now, it appears that the company might launch a new variant of the Galaxy Book Flex with improved connectivity.

The South Korean tech giant has filed an application for the term ‘Samsung Book Flex 5G’ with EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) which leads us to believe that a 5G variant of the Galaxy Book Flex could be launched in the future. We don’t know exactly when this version of the laptop will be launched. However, it could happen later this year, going by the timing of the trademark application.

As 5G networks are getting launched in various markets around the world, Samsung is releasing 5G versions of its smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy Book Flex could be the South Korean firm’s first 5G-equipped laptop. Dell, HP, and Lenovo have already unveiled their first 5G-equipped laptops, so Samsung seems a little late in comparison. It is being reported that Intel-powered 5G laptops could use MediaTek’s 5G modems.

The Galaxy Book Flex is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop that comes in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch QLED touchscreen variants. It features slim bezels on three sides of the screen, an S Pen, a backlit keyboard, a trackpad with Qi wireless charging, more than 19 hours of battery life, and fast charging. It is equipped with 10th Gen. Intel Core i5/i7 processor, 8GB/12GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows Hello fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 6, AKG-tuned speakers, Thunderbolt 3 port, and UFS+microSD card slot.
