Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) gets updated to Android 11

Another day, another update from Samsung. The South Korean firm has released the Android 11 update to the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) in a few markets, and the update brings a more recent version of the Android security patch. This could be the last major Android OS update for the tablet which was released in 2019 with Android 9 onboard.

The LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (SM-T295) has started receiving the Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1 update in Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the UK. The latest update, which has firmware version T295XXU4CUF7, includes the May 2021 security patch as well. This new software version brings a refreshed UI design, chat bubbles, a conversations section in the notifications area, a dedicated media playback widget, and better performance.

The update also includes more lockscreen widgets and options and a redesigned Device Care menu. All the stock apps, including Samsung Internet and Samsung Keyboard, have been improved as well. To improve the privacy and security of the device, the new software version includes one-time permissions, auto permissions reset, and better parental controls.

If you are a Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can either wait for the OTA (Over The Air) update to arrive or check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
