Carrier-locked version of Galaxy Z Fold 2 gets August 2021 security update

Last week, Samsung had released a new software update to the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It brought One UI 3.1.1 enhancements and the August 2021 security patch to the foldable smartphone. The update now seems to be rolling out to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the US.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 has started getting the new software update on Sprint & T-Mobile’s network in the US. It comes with firmware version F916USQU2EUH5 and includes the August 2021 security patch. Samsung had revealed a few weeks ago that the August patch includes fixes for 40 privacy and security related vulnerabilities.

The update might also contain One UI 3.1.1 improvements such as Flex Mode Panel, Drag & Split, Multi-Active Window and Natural Window Switching, Auto Rotate All Apps, Customized App Aspect Ratios, App Split View, Favorite Apps Taskbar, and Cover Screen Mirroring. All these features debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 that was launched last month.

If you are a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user on Sprint or T-Mobile’s network in the US, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file for your smartphone from our firmware database and flash it manually.
