Galaxy A8+ (2018) picks up the September 2021 security update

The Galaxy A8+ (2018) has started getting a new software update. The three-year-old mid-range smartphone was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board, and it has received two major Android OS updates. Now, the device is getting the September 2021 security patch from Samsung.

Galaxy A8+ (2018) units in Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan have started getting the new software. It comes with firmware version A730FXXU7CUI2 and includes the September 2021 security patch. Samsung had revealed last month that the September patch fixes more than four dozen privacy and security-related vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones. The update could also include general bug fixes and improvements to device stability.

If you are someone who has held on to the Galaxy A8+ (2018) and live in any of the countries mentioned above, you might have received a notification of the new update. If you haven’t received it yet, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The Galaxy A8+ (2018) is currently listed under Samsung’s biannual software update schedule, but it is not eligible to receive any Android OS update.
