Most of Samsung’s 2022 lineup will be powered by Qualcomm chipsets

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Samsung fans. We get to see an AMD GPU work its magic alongside Samsung chipsets, including the top-of-the-line Exynos 2200. Several mid-range smartphones could be powered by the aforementioned Exynos chipsets. However, we’ll still find quite a few phones with Qualcomm, MediaTek and even UNISOC chipsets.

A report by TheElec tells us how many Samsung devices could use SoCs made by each OEM. Samsung has 64 smartphones and tablets in the pipeline for 2022, of which 31 will use Qualcomm processors. 20 devices will use an Exynos chipset powered by the AMD GPU. 14 products will be powered by MediaTek silicon and three by UNISOC hardware. The MediaTek and UNISOC chips will likely find their way into entry-level devices.

Based on the above information, we can reasonably assume that the Qualcomm SoCs will be scattered across the spectrum ranging between the Snapdragon 898 powered Galaxy S22 series. The Galaxy A73 5G is expected to run a Snapdragon 778G 5G SoC and the Galaxy A52 a Snapdragon 720G.

The MediaTek SoCs could find their way in some 5G-enabled  Galaxy A and Galaxy M devices such as the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G. There is at least one Helio G80-powered smartphone in the lineup, too. Lastly, we can expect some ultra-low-cost phones and tablets to run UNISOC hardware.

A previous report told us that some Galaxy A series smartphones could run Exynos SoCs. TheElec speculated that the upcoming Galaxy M33, Galaxy A33, Galaxy  53, could use the hardware. Even the low-cost Galaxy A13 might follow suit. Samsung could switch things up at the last moment, so it’s best if we treat the information with a grain of salt.
