Big news from Amazon India as the e-commerce company is going to start selling refurbished devices starting with Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones. This is a big move especially in a region where cheaper devices sell better. If you’re going to order a refurbished device off Amazon India then you’ll get a minimum of 6 months warranty. Initially refurbished deals will be limited to a very select amount of models but it’s probably going to expand in time. It’s worth noting that Xiaomi also teamed up with Overcart a while back so the tech company is used to moves like this. Here’s what Noor Patel, directory category management of Amazon India had to say about this:
Our consumer insights give us enough reason to believe that there is a market in India for quality-assured, brand-refurbished smartphones at value prices. We are starting the refurbished category as a pilot and will scale as we see more feedback from customers. We are confident that the smartphone ecosystem will gear up for more brand-refurbished products in the coming months
