The Galaxy Note 4 probably won’t ever get most of the Galaxy S6′s features

We have been getting a lot of questions from readers about whether the Galaxy Note 4 will be receiving support for the new features that debuted on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Themes support is one of the biggest demands from users, and with the 5.1.1 update on the S6 and S6 edge now live, folks have also been wondering if the new additions from 5.1.1 for the S6 duo will be making their way to the Note 4.

Sadly, Samsung is unlikely to provide any of the major S6 features to the Galaxy Note 4, and the reason is a simple one: The Galaxy Note 4 uses an older version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UX, and without putting the UX from the S6 and S6 edge on the phablet in its entirety, the Korean giant probably isn’t going to just take a couple of features and mix them up with the older TouchWiz. With Android 5.1.1, it will probably just end up getting new stuff that is a part of the stock version of 5.1.1, without any of its own features that Samsung has added to the Galaxy S beauties.

We have said it time and again that the Note 4 has been treated rather badly for a flagship smartphone, and we really don’t think that is going to change with a minor update like Android 5.1.1. Updates will probably keep coming to the phone for another year, but without the new and improved version of TouchWiz, whatever additions these updates will bring are very likely to be limited to core features of Android. Anyone wishing to get all the fancy stuff from Samsung will have to upgrade to a device released after the Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy Note 5 will be the best bet for Galaxy Note lovers, despite its lack of hardware features that have separated Samsung from the competition in recent years.
