Samsung might overtake Apple in India due to strong sales of the Galaxy S7

Samsung has been focusing a lot on emerging markets with India being one of them. On one hand the company is trying to improve its fortunes in the mid-range segment of the market by providing innovative new features that appeal to a lot of customers and on the other hand it’s seriously improving its flagship game. Market research already points towards stellar performance of the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge in the first month after launch and it appears that the new flagships might help the company overtake Apple in India.

According to a new report which cites mobile phone retailers and industry insiders, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge have seen massive success in India since launch and they believe that the new handsets can very well make Samsung trump Apple in the country’s high-end mobile segment. Information from retail channels suggests that Samsung sold more than 60,000 models of the S7 in under one month after launch, that’s twice the number of the Galaxy S6 in the same time. Analysts are of the view that the strong initial demand for the new flagships might put Samsung in a good position to overtake Apple in the April-June quarter, particularly in the premium segment.
