Samsung patents new panel that’ll enable users to scribble on an Edge display using the S Pen

A patent filing dating back to August 2015 has surfaced today for a nifty new feature that could be ship on board the upcoming successor to the Galaxy Note Edge. The sketches included in the documentation suggest that Samsung is internally developing a stylus-sensitive side panel, which will enable users to scribble directly on the Edge display using the S Pen. The overall purpose of this functionality remains unknown, but there are many scenarios where this could prove to be useful, such as when needing to write down a telephone number while using an application.

As with many patents and trademarks, it’s perfectly possible that this development will never see the light of day. However, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for any new information on the matter and will report back in a timely manner, so be sure to keep your browser pointed to SamMobile for all the latest details.
