Galaxy Note 8’s dual-camera setup could be better than we expected

The Galaxy Note 8 may not feature the dual-camera setup we’ve been expecting. Recent leaks and rumors pointing towards the configuration comprising of two 12MP sensors, but a new report fresh out of South Korea claims that it will have both a 12MP and a 13MP sensor; the former a regular lens equipped with OIS and the latter a telephoto one.

One thing the report does corroborate, however, is that the setup on board the Galaxy Note 8 has a two-times optical zoom. It’s also tipped to come with several software-based enhancements, including a Portrait Mode similar to the one Apple introduced last year with the iPhone 7 Plus and new presets for shooting in poorly-lit environments.

In the future, Samsung is believed to use a dual-camera system on all of its flagship, as well as mid-range, smartphones. The Galaxy C10 will be the first affordable device to feature the high-end technology, according to relatively reliable Twitter tipster @mmddj_china—but that’s far from confirmed.

All signs point towards the Galaxy Note 8 being not only the South Korean company’s best, but also most expensive smartphone to date. Under the hood, it should sport a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge Infinity Display, an Exynos 8895/Snapdragon 835 processor, at least 6GB of RAM and a 3,300mAh non-removable battery.
