Samsung quietly introduces Galaxy Chromebook Go with 14-inch display, Intel Celeron CPU

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Chromebook Go, an ultra-affordable Chrome OS-based laptop. It completes the South Korean firm’s Chromebook lineup, which also includes the Galaxy Chromebook and the Galaxy Chromebook 2. This new laptop features an Intel Celeron processor, LTE connectivity, and a lightweight design.

The Galaxy Chromebook Go features a 14-inch IPS LCD display. Unfortunately, the screen resolution is limited to just 1,366 x 768 pixels, and we don’t think any modern laptop in 2021 should have such a low-resolution display. Naturally, the device runs Chrome OS. It comes equipped with Intel’s Celeron N4500 processor that is built using a 10nm process and features two CPU cores and Intel UHD Graphics with 16 EUs. There is 4GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB eMMC storage, and a microSD card slot.

Samsung has equipped its latest Chromebook with a tenkeyless keyboard, a decently large multitouch trackpad, 1.5W stereo speakers, and a 720p webcam. Connectivity features of the Galaxy Chromebook Go are surprisingly modern: LTE (nano-SIM), Wi-Fi 6 (2×2), one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device is 15.9mm thin and weighs 1.45kg. It is powered by a 42.3Whr battery and comes bundled with a 45W USB Type-C charger.

The company hasn’t announced the pricing or availability of the Galaxy Chromebook Go yet, but we won’t be surprised if it starts at $299. The device comes in just one color: silver. It may be launched in Asia, Europe, and North America over the next few days.
