Verizon will open pre-order for the Galaxy S6, S6 edge April 1st

You might well be wanting to spend the 1st of April scheming and executing your carefully curated pranks, but that’s not exactly how Verizon wants you to spend the day. The US carrier has announced that it will be accepting pre-orders for the current set of Samsung flagships – Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge starting April Fool’s Day, i.e., the 1st of April. Unfortunately, however, the carrier failed to give out pricing and/or availability details about the same.

We earlier reported that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge would come with ‘heavy branding’ on the Verizon network, in early Q2. We now have a pre-order date as you just read; the only thing that remains is availability info, which however is expected to coincide with the April 10th roll-out.

[Video] This is how fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge works

The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge are Samsung’s first devices to feature touch-based fingerprint sensors. This is a great move from Samsung as it becomes less cumbersome for users to unlock their devices or authorize payments through PayPal as well as Samsung Pay.

Just like you, we were interested to know about the speed improvements in the fingerprint recognition process when we exclusively reported that the South Korean smartphone giant was planning to use touch-based fingerprint sensor on its latest flagship. While we were at the MWC 2015, we got a chance to play with these devices, and we’ve recorded the whole process of fingerprint registration as well as its use while unlocking the device.

While registering your fingerprints, one has to cover a wide area of their fingers by tapping on the home button multiple times as well as by swiping the finger over it. As you can see in the video, it hardly takes a second to unlock the device using the new fingerprint sensor.

T-Mobile CEO gushes about his ‘amazing’ Galaxy S6 edge

T-Mobile was one of the first major carriers in the United States to confirm that it will be carrying the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. While all of us have to wait until April 10th in order to pick up Samsung’s latest smartphone there’s a certain advantage to being the CEO of a major U.S. carrier. T-Mobile CEO John Legere is already rocking the Galaxy S6 edge, he gushed about the device today on Twitter, calling it “amazing.”

Legere posted a picture of himself with the Galaxy S6 edge and said that the device is amazing. He also reminded his followers to pre-register for the device on T-Mobile’s website. T-Mobile is running a competition for those who pre-register, they have the chance to win a Galaxy S6, apart from other goodies from Samsung. The carrier is believed to have revealed the off-contract pricing for the Galaxy S6 through the rules of this competition.

Otterbox announces Galaxy S6 cases and screen protectors

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are two of the most beautiful smartphones on the market, sure to command respect for not only Samsung but also those who own them. There are a number of smartphone owners who like to carry their smartphones “naked,” but you may not want to create your own torture test to see if Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 display on the Galaxy S6 is worth its salt.

Otterbox is the number one name in the business when it comes to protecting your high-end smartphone that’ll last you at least two years if not longer. The smartphone protection company announced its new Galaxy S6 Otterbox cases and screen protectors in the hopes of helping Galaxy S6 users protect their new investment. Otterbox has partnered with Samsung in creating these cases specifically for the company’s latest devices, so each case will come with a “Designed for Samsung Mobile” logo.

The rugged Defender Series along with the sleek Commuter Case Series provide the option to color customize each case layer and are available for purchase now. The Symmetry Series of cases, along with the Alpha Glass screen protectors, are coming soon. For those who want additional flair to their smartphone case, Otterbox has created a special NFL Edition Defender Series to showcase your inner football fan. Keep in mind that these cases are for the Galaxy S6, not the Galaxy S6 edge.

The Galaxy S6 will go on sale worldwide on April 10th, but, in this case, it’s perfectly fine to “put the cart before the horse.” Check out the source link below for more details.
