Galaxy Note 9 getting new update, November patch not included

Samsung has released a new Galaxy Note 9 update today, but you’re not going to like it. The new update is for countries where the Note 9 is still on the September security patch, such as the UAE, Iran, South Africa, and Iran. It brings with it the October patch, despite having a software version that’s newer than the one in countries where the October update has already been released.

New Galaxy Note 9 update doesn’t include November patch

That means the November 2018 security patch will take some time to arrive in the aforementioned countries, although we can expect it to arrive faster in markets where the October patch is already available. The software version is getting a bump to N960FXXU2ARJ7 and the changelog doesn’t mention anything other than improved security. It’s still a 200 MB+ download, though, which is higher than the usual size of Samsung’s security updates for devices launched with Android Oreo out of the box.

To download the new update on your Galaxy Note 9, open the phone’s Settings app, tap Software update, then hit the Download updates manually option. It’s not available via Smart Switch or our firmware database yet, but you can expect that to change in the next few days.

Detailed Samsung foldable phone images will be released at SDC 2018

It appears that we may get to see proper Samsung foldable phone images at the company’s upcoming developers’ conference. Samsung was expected to only provide a preview of the user interface. However, a new report mentions that this will be the first time that Samsung actually shows off images of the actual device.

The Samsung Developer Conference 2018 kicks off tomorrow so we will find out soon enough. We did report yesterday about Samsung’s confirmation that it will show the foldable display UX at SDC 2018.

Samsung foldable phone images incoming

A Samsung official tells Reuters that the company will show detailed images of the foldable phone at SDC 2018. However, it’s unlikely that the phone itself will be on display at the conference.

The report also mentions that Samsung will talk about some of the foldable phone’s key features for app developers at SDC 2018. It’s looking for feedback from developers who will be crucial in creating an ecosystem of apps and experiences that take full advantage of the foldable display.

“Before we take it to the market, we want to share with developers what we’ve done so far and see what they think of it,” an unnamed Samsung official is quoted as saying.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed a lot of details about its foldable smartphone as yet. Reports suggest that the device will have a 7.3-inch foldable internal and 4.6-inch external display. Both of them will be OLED panels. The internal display will hide completely when the device is folded in. The external display will then effectively make it double as a smartphone.

There has been a lot of hype about this device and the Samsung foldable phone images will fuel it even further. Many are interested in seeing what this device looks like. We have been hearing about it since 2013. It’s about time we got a peek at it. We’re attending SDC 2018 in San Francisco and will bring you these images if they’re shown at the conference.
