Milk Music will soon be able to stream live college sports

Samsung is rolling out an update to its music streaming service Milk Music, which will give users an ability to stream live broadcasts from various college football and basketball teams. The update will start rolling out on the 3rd of September when the new section goes live in the genre dial.

Users of the service will be able to stream over 900 different football games and championships from 122 universities. Also, basketball season starts in November, and you will be able to stream over 3,000 games from 137 NCAA teams, all included in the latest live college sports section.

The best part about Milk Music is that it’s completely free of charge as long as you own a compatible Samsung phone or tablet. The smartphone giant is planning to add sport talk content from CBS Radio National Sports Talk Shows, so it’s going to be improved pretty heavily in the coming weeks. You can find more information about the app on the official Google Play Store page.

Samsung could already be testing Galaxy S7 with a newer version of Snapdragon 820

Last week, we reported that Samsung might be testing the Galaxy S7 with Snapdragon 820 chipset. A new report has surfaced on the Internet that proves that Samsung is indeed trying out a Qualcomm chipset after removing it from the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge that were announced earlier this year.

According to information that was leaked on Weibo, Qualcomm has just shipped a newer prototype of Snapdragon 820 to Samsung for testing purposes in the upcoming Galaxy S7. Samsung could release their upcoming flagship smartphone in two variants: a next generation Exynos M1 version and a Snapdragon 820 variant as we reported earlier.

Apparently this is version 3.x of the Snapdragon 820 chipset and the edition that was supplied to Samsung retains four custom Kryo cores, the Adreno 530 GPU and the 14nm FinFET manufacturing process. This chipset is going to deliver a lower power consumption and a better thermal management than the Snapdragon 810, so it should be a high-quality piece of equipment and hopefully all the problems present on the 810 will be a thing of the past.

In any case, the new Snapdragon 820 should be able to reach speeds of up to 3GHz per core, which is absolutely impressive if it’s true. Regardless of that, Samsung’s chipset that would be used in the next-generation Galaxy S flagships is expected to be quite impressive, so the Galaxy S7 should be a fantastic device and we can’t wait to see it. Let us know if you have any speculations about it by leaving a comment.

Samsung’s market capitalization falls to thirteenth place in the global IT market

After some exciting announcements over the course of past few weeks including the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 edge+, and the Gear S2, there’s some bad news for Samsung. According to a new report from Korea Herald, the tech giant fell out of the top ten list of global IT brands when it comes to market capitalizations.

Samsung now lies on the thirteenth spot, and is facing a financial turmoil that has been affecting them for quite a while now. Despite good sales this year, Samsung still finds itself in a pretty bad financial situation. Investors have found Samsung less attractive this year despite the fact that the company is keeping the stature of the country’s most valuable company and the world’s largest handset manufacturer.

2012 was the peak for Samsung when the company was sitting at spot #6, but it went downhill next year when Samsung dropped to the ninth place, only to find itself on spot #13 this year. Things are pretty bad but out there for Samsung as it is still one of the biggest tech companies in the world. We’ll see what they unveil at IFA this year apart from the Gear S2 smartwatch and some home automation products by SmartThings, because Samsung still has the chance to advance the ranks.

Samsung is working on its own curated news app for Galaxy devices

Samsung had previously partnered with Flipboard to offer a news briefing widget that’s usually embedded into the launcher on Galaxy devices. Now, the company is working on its own aggregated news app dubbed ‘UPDAY’ for its smartphones and tablets. Samsung might be looking to compete with Apple News that was announced earlier this year.

The company has partnered with Alex Springer, a leading newspaper and digital content publisher in Europe, to develop the app. UPDAY is being pitched as an “aggregated news content platform” where news stories and content will be selected algorithmically as well as manually by a local team of news editors. However, the Alex Springer hasn’t revealed the amount of content that it will produce exclusively for this news service.

UPDAY will be exclusive to Galaxy devices, and its beta version will be available to download from the Google Play Store as well as the company’s Galaxy Apps and Galaxy Gifts stores. The app will be rolled out to Galaxy owners in Germany and Poland, and then its availability will be expanded to other European markets early next year. If Samsung thinks that it has potential, it will be rolled out to customers globally.

Samsung Galaxy Grand On and Galaxy Mega On spotted entering India for testing

Two new smartphones from Samsung have been spotted entering India; the SM-G550FY and the SM-G600, which are the Galaxy Grand On and the Galaxy Mega On. These two devices are currently going through a testing phase in India, which means they are due for a release soon.

According to the listing, the Galaxy Mega On will pack a 5.5-inch display whereas the Galaxy Grand On will only have a 5.0-inch display. We expect the Galaxy Mega On (SM-G600) to pack a Snapdragon 410 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, a 13MP primary shooter, a 5MP secondary camera, all of which are powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. The Galaxy Grand On (SM-G550) will use an Exynos 3475 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, the same that will also power the Galaxy J2, along with 1GB of RAM, an 8MP primary shooter, and a 2,600 mAh battery.

We will probably be getting more information about these two devices soon, but it’s good to know that they’re in a testing phase. The two devices are very similar to the Galaxy J5 and the Galaxy J7 in terms of hardware so they will probably be pretty similar in terms of design. We’ll keep you posted on the release details as they emerge.
