Galaxy Note 8 may be offered in a new ‘Deep Blue’ color

Samsung introduced the Coral Blue color option with the Galaxy Note 7 last year. The device didn’t survive but the color did. It was very well received and Samsung kept it around even after discontinuing the Galaxy Note 7 by releasing the Galaxy S7 edge in Coral Blue. It’s also selling the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in Coral Blue.

Samsung’s 2017 flagships are also offered in Midnight Black and Orchid Grey colors. Word on the street is that both of these color options will be offered with Samsung’s upcoming flagship. It’s also said that the Galaxy Note 8 will be offered in a new “Deep Blue” color option.

How this new color option will look on the Galaxy Note 8 is anybody’s guess right now. Customers will certainly appreciate having more choice. The more the merrier, I say, so long as Samsung releases all color options at launch and doesn’t make customers wait for them unnecessarily.

The company confirmed a couple of days ago that it’s going to officially launch the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23. The launch event is going to take place in New York City. We’ll be on the ground to report on all of the latest developments as and when they happen.

Samsung may launch Bixby-powered earphones alongside the Galaxy Note 8

Samsung confirmed earlier this week that it’s going to unveil the Galaxy Note 8 on August 23. If a new report out of South Korea is believed, the Galaxy Note 8 may not be the only product that Samsung launches that day. It’s reportedly going to launch Bixby-powered earphones alongside the new flagship phablet.

While the report claims that the Bixby earphones will be launched with the Galaxy Note 8, it doesn’t clarify if Samsung is going to ship them with the new handset or if they’re only going to be sold as a standalone accessory.

It seems that the product will be similar to Apple’s AirPods but Samsung is reportedly going to kick things up a notch by also integrating noise cancellation technology. The unnamed product will signal a big change in the way we interact with these products by primarily relying on voice-based and not touch-based controls.

An unnamed Samsung official mentioned in the report says that the Bixby-powered earphones aren’t final yet so it’s possible that they might not arrive with the Galaxy Note 8. Samsung was also rumored to be working on a Bixby-powered smart speaker recently but the company says it’s not going to release one anytime soon.

Bixby-powered earphones will enable Samsung to offer its voice assistant to an entirely new segment of the market. After all, most people are not going to spend close to $800 to buy a Samsung flagship just to try Bixby.

Galaxy S8 Active live pictures leaked

We exclusively reported three months ago that Samsung had the Galaxy S8 Active in the pipeline. Like previous “Active” variants before it, the Galaxy S8 Active codenamed “Cruiser” will be exclusive to AT&T in the United States.

We’ve only ever seen leaked renders of the Galaxy S8 Active and while they have given us a good idea of what to expect from the device, nothing beats images of the actual device itself. Several live pictures of the Galaxy S8 Active have now been leaked online.

The sturdy device has the same internals as the regular Galaxy S8 packed inside a durable body built to the MIL-STD-810G standard. It has the same Exynos 8895 processor, however, it swaps the dual-edge curved display for a 5.8-inch flat AMOLED display.

It may not be long before Samsung officially announces the Galaxy S8 Active. Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen it surface on benchmarking websites multiple times. The handset has also received its FCC approval and various certifications.

The Galaxy S8 Active will be exclusive to AT&T so the pricing and availability details will be confirmed by the carrier itself. No word as yet on how much the carrier is going to charge for this device.
