How to make your Galaxy S10 camera always open in last used mode

You know your Galaxy S10 will always remember if you used the front or rear camera the last time you clicked pictures with the phone, but did you know you can also force it to always open in the last used shooting mode? Not everyone uses their smartphone primarily for still photos. Parents, for example, would love to be able to quickly start capturing a regular video or a slow-motion one of their kids so they can cherish those moments later on. Selfie addicts, meanwhile, might be spending more time taking bokeh pictures with the Live Focus mode on their Galaxy S10.

And thanks to a neat little option Samsung introduced with Android Pie, you can make sure your Galaxy S10 camera always opens in your favorite shooting mode. That option is called Keep using last mode; the name may be self-explanatory, but you may not have come across it if you haven’t dug deep into your Galaxy S10’s camera settings. Once you enable the option, the camera app will always open in the last used shooting mode. If you recorded a video on your phone the last time, you’ll be taken directly to video mode the next time you fire up the camera app. The same goes for Live Focus, Super Slow-mo, Night, or any of the many other shooting modes on the Galaxy S10.

Follow the steps below to see how you can enable the Keep using last mode setting. There’s also a GIF animation just below the steps for a quick visual guide.

How to make Galaxy S10 camera always open in last used shooting mode

Step 1: Open the camera app on your Galaxy S10e, S10, or S10+.

Step 2: Open the camera settings by tapping the gear icon on the top left of the screen.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap the Camera modes option.

Step 4: Here, enable the Keep using last mode setting.

From now on, every time you open the camera app on your Galaxy S10, it will open directly in the mode that you used the last time. In fact, your phone will remember the last used mode even if you restart the device. And any time you want to disable the feature, you can follow the steps given above again and do the needful.

We have more tips to help you get the most out of your Galaxy S10, S10e, or Galaxy S10+. This trick works for other Galaxy devices running Android Pie as well, and we also have plenty of tips and tricks for Galaxy devices in general.

There’s a Prism Silver Galaxy S10 that you can buy only in Hong Kong

If you were disappointed to see that you can’t buy the hot new red Galaxy S10 in your country, well, there’s also a new silver Galaxy S10+ that you can’t buy, unless you’re in Hong Kong. Samsung has launched the Prism Silver color option for the Galaxy S10+ in Hong Kong; the new silver shade is only available on the S10+, unlike the Cardinal Red version that’s available for both the S10 and S10+ and will be coming to the Galaxy S10e as well.

The Prism Silver has the same gradient effect as the Prism White Galaxy S10, which is to say it’s a subtle effect with whitish and reddish hues at the top and bottom respectively. The Prism Silver version is great for those who like their smartphones in sober colors and weren’t happy about having just white and black to choose from if they didn’t want one of the more flashy Galaxy S10 paint jobs. But, again, the silver version is only available in Hong Kong for now, so its availability is quite limited.

As usual, for most people the new color option would have arrived too late, as they have probably already purchased a Galaxy S10. But perhaps that makes the limited availability of the Prism Silver S10+ an easier thing to deal with, right? Thankfully, silver will be one of the launch options for the Galaxy Note 10 when it hits retail shelves later this year, although that may not be enough to make everyone overlook the drastic changes the Note 10 is expected to bring.

First big Galaxy Note 10 leak is here, and you may not like what it reveals

It has finally begun. The first major Galaxy Note 10 leak has arrived, and as expected, it comes in the form of CAD-based renders that give us a look at both the front and back of the device. The leak also confirms some stuff that we’ve been hearing about the Note 10 in the last few weeks: According to 91Mobiles, who have leaked the renders in a collaboration with OnLeaks, there is indeed no headphone jack on the Galaxy Note 10. The Bixby key is reportedly being ditched as well, but the physical volume and power buttons aren’t getting the axe just yet, at least not on the lower-end Galaxy Note 10.

Say hello to centered display cutout

Moreover, the cutout for the front camera will move from the right side of the display to the center. The leaked renders are for the smaller Galaxy Note 10 with a 6.3-inch display and a single front camera, and it’s possible the larger Pro model will continue to have the front camera cutouts on the corner. That’s because we expect the Note 10 Pro to have a dual front camera setup like the Galaxy S10+, as no top Galaxy S model has launched with more cameras than the Note device from the same year before. And the 5G model will likely have three front cameras like the S10 5G, which would make a centered cutout a very ugly sight.

Speaking of cameras, the renders show a triple-camera setup at the back of the phone, aligned in a vertical fashion in the top-left corner. Samsung is also moving the power button to the left side of the phone, below the volume buttons, leaving a barren and clean right side. The power button is likely to double up as the Bixby key — Android Pie allows one to assign a long press of the power button to fire up Bixby Voice, and it’s certainly a good alternative to having an additional physical key on your phone that’s useless for anyone who doesn’t have Bixby Voice support for their language.

As thick as the Galaxy S10, yet no headphone jack

According to OnLeaks, the Galaxy Note 10 may measure 162.6 x 77.4 x 7.9mm. Yes, that would mean the Note 10 will be as thick as the Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10 5G and still lack a 3.5mm headphone jack. But we shouldn’t forget that Samsung does still need to put in an S Pen, although the battery size on the non-Pro model may not be very impressive despite the removal of the headphone jack. Is it possible the Galaxy Note 10 Pro will have a headphone jack? We can certainly hope so, but we’ll need to wait before we get more clarity on that front.

However, going by all the rumors and leaks about the Galaxy Note 10, we may have to finally make peace with the fact that it’s time to say goodbye to that traditional audio jack. It was bound to happen at some point, and coupled with the hole in the display, it could put off some seasoned Galaxy Note fans from upgrading to the next flagship in the lineup.

Check out the renders and a 360-degree video of the Galaxy Note 10 below, and let us know what you think about all the changes the device will bring to the table!
