T-Mobile releases November security update for the Galaxy Note 8

T-Mobile has released a maintenance update for its carrier-branded variant of the Galaxy Note 8. The upgrade transports all of the patches included in last month and this month’s security release, as well as a fix for an IMR roaming bug.

Here’s the full changelog:

  • October Security Maintenance Release (SMR) — Patches for 215 patches for vulnerabilities in the open-source Android operating system and six for Samsung’s own modified software.
  • November Security Maintenance Release (SMR) — Patches for 61 vulnerabilities in the open-source Android operating system and six for Samsung’s modified software, as well as a fix for the KRACK Wi-Fi exploit.

How do I check to see if the update is ready for my Galaxy Note 8?

Adults prefer the Galaxy S8 in the United States, survey reveals

It would appear that the Galaxy S8 is a hit among adults in the United States, while teenagers prefer Apple’s iPhone X and iPhone 8. At least, that’s what a new survey conducted by market research firm Propeller Insights would lead you to believe.

The US-based company revealed that 38 percent of adults are looking forward to unboxing a Galaxy S8 on Christmas Day, while only 20 and 22 percent of them are hoping to receive the recently-released iPhone X and iPhone 8, respectively.

Teenagers, on the other hand, exhibited a completely different preference. The survey uncovered that 25 percent would choose the Galaxy S8 (or Galaxy S8+), whereas 35 percent said they’d rather receive an iPhone X or iPhone 8.

USA Today believes that adults favor the Galaxy S8 because of its fingerprint recognition feature and headphone jack, which aren’t available on the iPhone X. Teenagers sensitive to trends aren’t interested in these tools, it added.

It all comes down to price

The main difference between the Galaxy S8 and iPhone X, however, is pricing. The former can now be picked up for $700, with the latter setting customers back $999. Needless to say, that’s another reason adults prefer Samsung’s offering.

Galaxy A7 (2018) surfaces in dubious-looking hands-on picture

A dubious-looking image has surfaced online allegedly showcasing the front of the upcoming Galaxy A7 (2018), with its 5.7-inch edge-to-edge Full HD+ Infinity Display and dual front-facing camera—but that’s about all it highlights.

Recent leaks and rumors point towards the handset shipping with a 1.6GHz Exynos 7885 octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM and a 3,600mAh battery. It should also come with a 16MP rear-facing camera; though that’s far from confirmed.

It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy A7 (2018) photographed in this latest hands-on image matches up to the unit reliable tipster OnLeaks highlighted alongside the Galaxy A5 (2018) in a batch of schematic-based renders last month.

Don’t let the picture fool you

That doesn’t mean that what we’re looking at is the real deal, however. It’s not uncommon for people to manipulate pictures of existing smartphones to trick the media—and there’s a chance that’s what could have happened here.
