Galaxy A6 US launch possible on AT&T

It has been a month since Samsung launched the Galaxy A6 and the Galaxy A6+. The company said that this device will be released in select markets in Asia, Europe and Latin America. It didn’t mention a US release at that point in time but it appears that AT&T is going to be selling the Galaxy A6 in the United States.

Trusted leakster Evan Blass a.k.a @evleaks has claimed that the Galaxy A6 is heading to AT&T in the United States bearing model number SM-A600A. No further information has been offered at this point in time so it’s unclear precisely when AT&T will launch this device and how much it will charge for the Galaxy A6.

The Galaxy A6 is a bonafide mid-range device with a sleek design that’s topped off with powerful cameras. The sleek metal unibody is complemented by a 5.6-inch 720×1480 pixel resolution 18.5:9 aspect ratio flat Infinity Display. The smooth curves offer a more comfortable grip and improved durability.

Since the device has an Infinity Display, the fingerprint sensor is present at the back just below the camera sensor. The device itself is powered by a 1.6GHz quadcore processor with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage depending on the market.

It also features a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 16-megapixel camera up front with f/1.9 aperture and an adjustable front LED flash. Some features from Samsung’s premium handsets such as Samsung Pay, Face Recognition and Dolby Atmos optimized audio are available onboard alongside Bixby Vision, Bixby Home and Reminder.

The Galaxy A6 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and is available in Black, Gold, Blue and Lavender colors. It ships with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

Samsung may introduce its triple-camera system with the Galaxy S10

When it launched the Galaxy S9 earlier this year, Samsung said that it was no longer obsessed with being the first in the world to introduce new technologies to market. That’s probably why we have yet to see the company come out with a device that has an in-display fingerprint sensor or a triple-camera at the back, something that Chinese smartphone manufacturers have already done.

Samsung said that it made this decision to ensure that it can guarantee the best possible user experience with a new technology. So instead of being the first, it would much rather wait and perfect the technology before rolling it out. It appears that Samsung now has that level of confidence in its triple-camera system because a new report claims that the Galaxy S10 will feature three rear-facing cameras.

Galaxy S10 triple-camera system

Huawei captured the world’s attention with the P20 Pro recently. The handset has three cameras at the back to offer “master level” photography features to users. It features a 40-megapixel primary sensor coupled with an 8-megapixel secondary sensor as well as a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. All three feature Optical Image Stabilization. They are larger scale sensors which means that the pixels are larger and thus capture more light which results in improved image quality.

KB Securities analyst Kim Dong-won predicts that the Galaxy S10 is also going to feature three rear-facing cameras in addition to a 3D sensor as Samsung seeks to pull out all the stops for its 10th anniversary flagship. The report doesn’t mention the technical specifications of this triple-camera system that the company is believed to have developed for the Galaxy S10.

With the next-generation iPhone X due in the second half of this year also expected to feature a triple-camera system, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if Samsung did jump on this bandwagon. The camera is often one of the main factors that customers consider when they purchase a new smartphone and Samsung has so far done a good job of holding its own in the segment. With the industry now appearing to opt for triple-camera systems for flagship smartphones, it would be natural for Samsung to go in that direction as well.

Galaxy Note 9 launch expected on August 9 with revamped camera

All eyes are now on Samsung as the company gears up to launch its second flagship smartphone of the year. Much has already been said about the Galaxy Note 9 and the features that it’s expected to bring. A new report claims that the Galaxy Note 9 launch is going to take place in early August and that one of the biggest selling points of the new device will be its revamped camera.

Galaxy Note 9 launch

It’s not surprising to hear that Samsung may be planning to highlight a revamped camera with the Galaxy Note 9, considering the fact that the company introduced its dual camera setup with the Galaxy Note 8 last year which eventually made its way to the Galaxy S9 in 2018.

Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports that the Galaxy Note 9 launch will take place on August 9 and that the camera will be one of the main features of the new device. It’s said to look similar to its predecessor and will feature the Snapdragon 845 processor from Qualcomm in markets where Samsung doesn’t ship the Exynos variant.

The Unpacked event for the Galaxy Note 9 launch will reportedly take place two weeks earlier than it did last year. The company is believed to be aiming for a release by the end of August. The plans could shift, though, the report cautions.

The report doesn’t make any groundbreaking revelations to be honest. Samsung was already expected to host the Galaxy Note 9 launch a bit earlier than it did for the Galaxy Note 8 last year. Any major technological advancements such as the in-display fingerprint sensor are now believed to be kept for the Galaxy S10 next year even though it was previously rumored that Samsung might finally introduce it with the Galaxy Note 9 this year.

No word as yet on how much the Galaxy Note 9 is going to cost and precisely when Samsung is going to release it. With August only a couple of months away it won’t be long until we have all of that information.
