Galaxy A52 5G gets access to June 2021 security update

Samsung started rolling out the June 2021 security patch to its Galaxy devices last week. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G was the first smartphone to get access to the latest security update. Since then, close to a dozen Galaxy smartphones have received the latest security update. Now, the Galaxy A52 5G is getting the same update.

The Galaxy A52 5G has started getting a new software update in Brazil. The latest update, which has firmware version A526BXXS1AUE3, includes the June 2021 security patch. We don’t have an official changelog for the new update yet, but we don’t expect it to have any significant new software features apart from fixes for security and privacy-related vulnerabilities.

The new software is now available for carrier-locked (Claro, TIM Brasil, and VIVO) and unlocked variants of the Galaxy A52 5G in the country. If you are a Galaxy A52 5G user in Brazil, you can check for the OTA update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy A52 5G in March with Android 11 on board. The smartphone will receive three major Android OS updates over the next three years and an additional year of security updates. The device is currently on Samsung’s monthly security update schedule.

Galaxy A71 gets June security update the same day it gets the May update

Here’s something interesting: Samsung is rolling out two different security patches to the same phone on the same day. The Galaxy A71 received the May 2021 security update in some countries a few hours ago, as we reported earlier, but now, Samsung is rolling out an update with the June 2021 security patch to the phone in a different market.

Puerto Rican Galaxy A71 users are the lucky ones who are getting access to the June security patch today, and considering how Samsung’s different divisions are running out of sync, it remains to be seen when users in other countries will get the same update. Not that it’s a very exciting update. It only brings new security fixes with it, no new features or improvements or anything of that sort is included.

It’s also not known what kind of security enhancements are being introduced by the June patch, as Samsung has yet to detail its contents on its official security website. But don’t let that stop you from downloading the new update right now, or at least check if it’s available for you. You can do that from the phone’s Settings » Software update menu. Our firmware archive also has the latest firmware available for download and installation via a Windows PC.

Galaxy A71 software support has not yet run its course

As many Galaxy A71 owners might know, the real prize they should have their eyes on is the Android 12 update. The Galaxy A71 was among the first mid-range devices to be included in Samsung’s new policy of three generations of OS upgrades, and since the phone was launched running Android 10, it will get Android 12 at some point later this year or early next year, followed by a last and final upgrade to Android 13 a year after that. There’s plenty of life left in this phone, in short.

Your WhatsApp account will soon work on all your Galaxy devices at the same time

WhatsApp is the world’s most popular messaging client. Despite the recent (and ongoing) controversy over its new privacy policy that will enable it to share more user data with Facebook, it will likely continue to be the most widely used messaging app for the foreseeable future. And soon, it will get a feature WhatsApp users have long asked for: the ability to use the same number and account on more than one device at a time.

A user’s WhatsApp account will soon work on more than one device at the same time

Right now, WhatsApp only lets you use your account on a single phone or tablet. If you set it up on a new device, you’re logged out on the previous device. However, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed this week that an upcoming update for WhatsApp will remove this limitation and allow up to four devices to be connected to a single account. Apps like Signal and Telegram, which have seen plenty of WhatsApp users sign up in recent months, already allow the use of the same phone number/account on multiple devices, and it looks like WhatsApp finally decided to get with the program.

So, if you own multiple Galaxy devices at home, you will soon be able to use up to four of them to check and send messages on your WhatsApp account, instead of just being able to use one of those devices. WhatsApp will also be introducing disappearing messages support, which will automatically delete messages as soon as it has been sent by the recipient (similar to Instagram’s Vanish Mode). These new features will be available in the beta version of the app “in the next month or two”, and the stable version is likely to get them a few weeks after that.

Are you still using WhatsApp, or have you switched to apps like Telegram, Signal, or another messaging service because of WhatsApp’s new privacy policy?

The Galaxy A52’s battery life is seriously amazing

It’s 2021, and something happened this year that I never thought possible: I switched to a mid-range Galaxy phone and didn’t feel like I needed to switch back to a flagship Galaxy phone. Until last year, Samsung was simply keeping too many features exclusive to its flagship lineups. The mid-range devices, no matter how good they got, just couldn’t come close to providing the level of user experience you got on Samsung’s top-of-the-line handsets.

I have been using the Galaxy A52 for the last couple of weeks, and it’s got everything I need from a phone. Well, except for a zoom camera, but that’s a topic I’ve already addressed. What I want to tell our readers today is that the Galaxy A51’s battery life is amazing. Yes, there are other mid-range Galaxy phones with amazing battery life, but the Galaxy A52 is unique in that it also gives you a high refresh rate display to go along with it.

All-day battery life? That’s too easy for the Galaxy A52

The 90Hz refresh rate doesn’t sound as good as 120Hz, but in practice, I’ve found no reason to complain about the smoothness of the animations and user interface in general even after using the 120Hz displays on Samsung’s 2020 and 2021 flagships. And even with the high refresh rate enabled, the Galaxy A52 lasts me for a day and a half or more pretty much every time I take it off the charger.

That’s with anywhere from 7 to 9 hours of screen time, most of which is spent watching (or listening to) videos on YouTube, scrolling through my Facebook feed, and responding to work messages on Slack. I never game on the phone, but even then, I wasn’t expecting the 4,500 mAh battery on the Galaxy A52 to have such high stamina. Not with the 90Hz mode enabled, anyway. But this phone has left me impressed, with battery life that is close to what those Galaxy M series phones with their 6,000 and 7,000 mAh batteries manage.

If you’re looking for a mid-range phone that doesn’t skimp on fancy features while still lasting you all day long and then some on a single charge, look no further than the Galaxy A52. As before, I would say that the Galaxy A72 is the better alternative if you would like to add a zoom camera to the list of features, but if that’s not a requirement, then the Galaxy A52 will keep you very, very happy.

Do you own a Galaxy A52? How has battery life been for you? Let me know down in the comments!

Galaxy A22 vs Galaxy A32: The battle of the 90Hz budget phones

Samsung is enriching its budget smartphone portfolio with the addition of the Galaxy A22. Announced earlier today, the Galaxy A22 4G / LTE feels like a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy A32, though in true Samsung fashion, the two devices ended up sharing a few hardware components.

Both smartphones are powered by the same chipset and boast a high refresh rate 90Hz display, at least as long as they are the 4G variants, which we’ll be taking a closer look at below.

The Galaxy A32 remains technically superior, and most of us would probably agree that it looks better than the Galaxy A22. That’s to be expected, given their places on the market, but just how different and/or similar are they? Let’s find out.

Galaxy A22 vs Galaxy A32: Display

As mentioned above, both phones have 90Hz displays, which means they are capable of rendering smoother animations throughout the UI and supporting apps.

The Galaxy A22 and A32 have 6.4-inch Super AMOLED displays, and both feature an Infinity-U notch.

Finally, the Galaxy A32 benefits from a higher-quality AMOLED panel, in the sense that it has a higher resolution and pixel density. It has a pixel count of 2,400 by 1,080 as opposed to 1,600 x 720.

Galaxy A22 vs Galaxy A32: Cameras

Samsung’s latest budget smartphone features four rear-facing cameras, including a 48MP main sensor with OIS. In contrast, the Galaxy A32 has a 64MP main sensor with PDAF that lacks OIS. In theory, this should give the Galaxy A22 an advantage when capturing photos in low-light conditions and when recording videos in motion.

The phones have 8MP ultra-wide cameras with an f/2.2 aperture, as well as depth and macro sensors. The Galaxy A32 has higher-resolution 5MP depth and macro shooters, while the Galaxy A22 is limited at 2MP.

As for selfies, the Galaxy A22 has a 13MP unit, whereas the Galaxy A32 benefits from a 20MP sensor.

Galaxy A22 vs Galaxy A32: Design

Each phone has a distinct camera housing design, and they both feature plastic frames with a metallic finish. The Galaxy A22 has a traditional camera hump, whereas the Galaxy A32 has individual cutouts on the back panel for each camera.

The Galaxy A22 will be released in four color options, black, mint, violet, and white, and the Galaxy A32 is available in black, blue, violet, and white. Both phones measure and weigh about the same.

The Galaxy A22 has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, while the Galaxy A32 hides it under the display.

Galaxy A22 vs Galaxy A32: Hardware and software

For better or worse, neither the Galaxy A22 nor the Galaxy A32 comes with an Exynos chipset. Instead, Samsung opted for a solution built by MediaTek, namely the Helio G80 SoC.

It was manufactured on a 12nm process. It has two Cortex-A75 CPU cores clocked at 2.0GHz, and six Cortex-A55 cores operating at 1.8GHz. The CPU works alongside a Mali-G52 MC2 graphics chip.

The Galaxy A32 has more RAM options at 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB, while the Galaxy A22 is missing the 8GB option (though it is available for the 5G variant).

Other similarities across both phones include a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging, Bluetooth 5, NFC, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. They also ship with Android 11 and One UI 3.1.

Galaxy A22 vs Galaxy A32: Conclusion

As of this writing, Samsung hasn’t revealed any pricing details for the Galaxy A22, but it will be cheaper than the Galaxy A32. The latter phone is superior, but they’re different enough to coexist, which means that the price gap will make all the difference. The Galaxy A22 might sound like a decent low-cost phone in a vacuum, but that won’t mean much in the real world if it won’t be cheap enough to justify skipping the Galaxy A32.

Samsung’s getting ready to talk 5G, 6G, and a seamlessly connected society

Samsung has just announced that it will be hosting a new online event later this month, called Samsung Networks: Redefined. The company has released a short 15-second official teaser in anticipation of the event, inviting everyone to discover how its cutting-edge technologies will help unleash the full power of 5G.’

Quite obviously, the Samsung Networks: Redefined event will be focused on wireless communication technologies, especially 5G, but Samsung is also planning to discuss the evolution of next-gen networks.

Samsung has been working on 6G for a respectable time. The company began researching 6G network technologies back in 2019 when it put together a team dedicated to 6G research and development.

Samsung is ready to share its vision of a seamlessly connected society

The company hasn’t talked much about 6G since 2019. However, Samsung Research Principal Engineer Choi Hyung-jin took leadership of the 6G division two and a half months ago. A new team was tasked with standardizing and commercializing 6G, as well as defining timelines.

It’s a long-term plan with many years ahead. 6G is in the conceptual stage of development, and it won’t replace 5G anytime soon, but it looks like Samsung is ready to share its vision of the future at the upcoming event. The company will also discuss how unleashing the full power of 5G will ultimately ‘create a more seamlessly connected society.’

Samsung Networks: Redefined is scheduled for June 22 at 10:00 EDT / 16:00 CEST / 23:00 KST. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube.

Galaxy A22 LTE vs 5G: Multimedia refinement vs raw performance and 5G

The Galaxy A32 5G is no longer Samsung’s most affordable 5G phone of the year. After months of leaks and rumors teasing the eventual launch of the Galaxy A22 5G, Samsung finally took the veil off its affordable 5G phone as well as the LTE variant earlier today.

The Galaxy A22 LTE and 5G variants share some characteristics but they’re not the same. They could be described as opposite sides of the same coin. One model appears to be better at multimedia and entertainment than the other, and the inclusion of 5G came with a few sacrifices.

Galaxy A22 LTE vs 5G: Display

The Galaxy A22 LTE and 5G variants couldn’t have been more different in regards to their displays. The 4G / LTE model has a 6.4-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

In contrast, the Galaxy A22 5G has a larger 6.6-inch panel with a higher FHD+ resolution. However, the panel is of the TFT variety, it has an Infinity-V display cutout, and more importantly, it’s limited to 60Hz.

Once again, it looks like 5G enthusiasts will have to sacrifice display refresh rate in favor of faster network speeds, though we’re not sure if many people would prefer the latter option, especially in regions where 5G might not be easily accessible.

Galaxy A22 LTE vs 5G: Internal hardware

Fortunately for 5G enthusiasts, the Galaxy A22 5G is equipped with a superior chipset, i.e., the MediaTek Dimensity 700. It has two performance CPU cores clocked at 2.2GHz, six additional CPU cores operating at a frequency of up to 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G57 MC2 graphics chip.

The Galaxy A22 LTE is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC — same as the Galaxy A32 LTE. It features dual 2GHz high-performance CPU cores and six additional CPU cores operating at 2.0GHz. The CPU is paired with a not-as-powerful Mali-G52 MP2 GPU.

Both models come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage as standard. Beyond that, the Galaxy A22 LTE will be available with 4GB / 6GB of RAM + 128GB of storage. The 128GB Galaxy A22 5G will be released with 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM.

Regardless of connectivity options, the Galaxy A22 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging.

Galaxy A22 LTE vs 5G: Cameras

The Galaxy A22 LTE is vastly superior to the Galaxy A22 5G in terms of mobile photography. The 4G / LTE model is equipped with a 48MP main shooter with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS, whereas the 5G model has a 48MP sensor with a similar aperture but without OIS.

In addition, the Galaxy A22 4G / LTE has an 8MP ultra-wide (f/2.2) camera, a 2MP (f/2.4) depth shooter and a 2MP (f/2.4) macro sensor, as well as a 13MP (f/2.2) selfie camera.

The Galaxy A22 5G features a 5MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. It has an LED flash instead of a macro camera, and the selfie unit clocks in at a resolution of 8MP.

Galaxy A22 LTE vs 5G: Design and other features

The 4G and LTE models look quite similar but they can be easily differentiated by anyone who knows where to look. First of all, the 4G model has an Infinity-U display whereas the 5G variant is equipped with an Infinity-V panel.

Secondly, the Galaxy A22 4G carries the LED flash on the outside of the camera bump, whereas the 5G model incorporates the LED flash within the camera housing.

Both models feature side-mounted fingerprint sensors, and they’re available in similar shades of violet, mint, white, and black / gray.

The Galaxy A22 4G / LTE has a smaller footprint of 159.3 x 73.9 x 8.4mm and weighs 186 grams. The 5G model has a bigger display, so it’s slightly larger and heavier overall. It measures 167.2 x 76.4 x 9.0mm and weighs 203 grams.

Both variants feature Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, a USB-C port, and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. They ship with Android 11 and One UI 3.1 out of the box.

Galaxy A22 LTE vs 5G: Conclusion

Samsung has once again made a few sacrifices to bring 5G connectivity to the budget segment. Similar to the Galaxy A32, the Galaxy A22 4G is limited in terms of network connectivity but offers other advantages that are not easily ignored. The 4G model has a high refresh rate display, better cameras, and a slightly more modern design. It also boasts Super AMOLED technology.

The 5G model delivers more raw power thanks to the Dimensity 700 SoC and an additional RAM option but it’s lacking in other areas. So, anyone who cares about performance and 5G first will probably gravitate towards the 5G model, whereas Samsung customers who might be looking for a more rounded package and don’t care as much about 5G will get a lot more mileage out of the Galaxy A22 4G / LTE.

What side are you on? Would you prefer a faster SoC and 5G, or would you rather go with better cameras and a high refresh rate Super AMOLED display? Leave a comment below.

Samsung was the only big player to improve its earbuds market share in Q1

The TWS (True Wireless Stereo) market is in recovery mode and wireless earbuds priced over $100 have regained some of their traction in Q1 2021. Overall, the global TWS market grew by 44% in terms of unit sales in Q1 2021.

As far as per-company market share goes, Samsung retained the third spot in the global TWS segment after Apple and Xiaomi. However, while both Apple and Xiaomi have lost market share compared to the previous quarters, Samsung was able to improve its performance in Q1 and narrow the gap between it and Xiaomi.

Samsung ranks 2nd in the over-$100 TWS market segment

The over-$100 TWS market segment was in decline for the first three quarters of 2020 because of the Covid pandemic. Nevertheless, the $100+ segment began recovering in Q4 and continued improving in Q1 2021, reaching 46% market share. This indicates that the high-end market is on its way to recovery as customers are slowly shifting towards higher-cost solutions.

Apple led the $100+ TWS segment with a massive 57% market share, but Samsung was able to take home the silver medal with a 17% market share, according to Counterpoint Research.

The Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds have reportedly contributed to Samsung’s relative success in Q1. Likewise, the company was helped by its aggressive marketing promotions for older earbud models such as the Galaxy Buds+ and Galaxy Buds Live.

Samsung is now rumored to be working on a new pair of earbuds in anticipation of a July-August unveiling, called the Galaxy Buds 2, so the company will hopefully maintain its momentum throughout the final quarters of the year.

The last major Android OS firmware update for the Galaxy A20e is now live

Another Samsung smartphone that was released in 2019 is now getting its last major Android OS update. The company is rolling out the Android 11 and One UI 3.1 firmware update to the Galaxy S20e in Europe, and it has accompanied this new release with a more recent security patch.

The update can be identified by firmware number A202FXXU3CUE9. It’s packaged alongside the May 2021 security patch, and it began rolling out in Austria this week. As always, availability should gradually expand to other markets in the following days and weeks, but Galaxy A20e owners can attempt to trigger the Android 11 update process from the Software update menu inside the Settings app on their phones.

One UI 3.1 enhances the Galaxy A20e with a refined user interface

One UI 3.1 introduces various new features and improves upon existing ones, but because the Galaxy A20e is a low-cost phone from 2019, we don’t expect every major One UI 3.1 feature to be included in the latest Android 11 firmware release.

What Galaxy A20e owners will notice from the first moment they’ll reboot their phones with Android 11 is a reworked user interface. One UI 3.1 was refined with a cleaner look and easier-to-reach UI elements, and it will inevitably serve to modernize the user experience for this two years old phone.

If you are a Galaxy A20e owners who hasn’t received the update notification yet, you can refer to our firmware archive and check if the latest update is available in your region. If so, you can choose to download the Galaxy A20e firmware update from our database and install it on your phone via a Windows PC.

Ready for some weirdo art and a Samsung story? Of course you are

Samsung is partnering with British auction (power)house Sotheby’s after someone over in London realized they’re a few TVs short for their upcoming exhibit. Also, just of the brand value at play. And the occasion? Called Natively Digital: A Curated NFT Sale, this has got to be one of the weirdest-looking art portfolios in the history of bizarre art. And it’s art, so it’s weird by definition.

Samsung never could resist the showbiz allure, and to be frank, tie-ups such as the one announced today certainly make for one heck of a PR piece. Oh, the story, right, here it goes: Samsung’s doing its part at the ongoing digital auction by – lending some TVs, duh.

One art taste, please. Oh, and an 8K TV, if you will.

That’s according to its British office which announced the partnership just earlier today. Of course, these aren’t just any TVs that are going Sotheby’s way, but the very best 4K and 8K pieces Samsung ever made. The vivid QLED image is supposed to ennoble the viewing experience or something of the sort. And yes, ennoble is a word. One particularly befitting this sophisticated PR stunt, mind you.

What else to say of art? It’s probably too early to predict whether this curious mash-up will develop into a more permanent partnership, either domestically or abroad. What is sure, however, is that neither Samsung nor Sotheby’s are lacking in office space outside of the UK… I mean, Europe. Such a turn of events thus definitely doesn’t sound impossible..

Some pretty old art, actually, seeing how one of the most prominent leitmotifs of the exhibit is to reframe historic works. The digital happening is running from today through June 10th.

Galaxy A22 4G has a MediaTek processor, quad-camera setup

Samsung could soon launch two Galaxy A series smartphones, the Galaxy A22 and the Galaxy A22 5G. Earlier today, we had published the images and complete specifications of the Galaxy A22 5G. Now, the pictures and specifications of the LTE variant of the Galaxy A22 have been leaked ahead of the launch.

The Galaxy A22 features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD Infinity-V display with Full HD+ resolution. While the 5G version of the smartphone features a 90Hz display, the refresh rate of the 4G version isn’t known yet. The upcoming smartphone runs Android 11 out of the box (most probably with One UI 3.1). It is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G80 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot (up to 1TB).

At the rear, the phone features a quad-camera setup, featuring a 48MP wide-angle camera with autofocus, a 5MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The Galaxy A22 can record 4K 30fps videos using the rear-facing camera. At the front, it sports an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The Galaxy A22 features 4G LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It features Dolby Atmos audio, Samsung Knox, and Samsung Pay. Galaxy A8 (2018) is the latest Samsung phone to get June 2021 security update

Samsung became the first Android OEM in the world to release the June 2021 security update. The rollout started last week with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and the update then reached the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Z Flip, and the Galaxy A50. Now, a three-year-old smartphone, the Galaxy A8 (2018), has started getting the latest security patch.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) is getting a new software update in the UAE. The latest update has firmware version A530FXXSKCUF1 and includes the June 2021 security patch. Samsung has not detailed which privacy and security-related bugs it has fixed with the new update, though. The new software also likely includes other bug fixes and stability improvements.

If you are a Galaxy A8 (2018) user in the UAE, you can check for the OTA update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. Alternatively, you can also download the entire firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy A8 (2018) back in January 2018 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The phone received two major Android updates: Android 8.0 Oreo and Android 9 Pie (with One UI). The Galaxy A8 (2018) won’t receive major Android OS updates anymore, and it is currently on Samsung’s biannual security update schedule.

Will my Galaxy smartphone or tablet get the Android 10 update?

Android 10, the tenth major version of Android, was made official by Google at its Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco on May 7, and many Galaxy smartphone owners will now be wondering if their device will be updated to Android 10. Samsung is still rolling out Android Pie to its devices, so it’s going to be some time before we get any word on the Android 10 update. Samsung will eventually be telling us what devices are eligible for the Android 10 update, but you can find out right away if your Galaxy will be on the list.

Will my Galaxy smartphone or tablet get Android 10?

Your Galaxy smartphone or tablet is likely to get Android 10 if it came with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. That’s because Samsung offers two major Android OS updates to most of its devices, which means that any Galaxy phone or tablet that was launched with Android 7.0 Nougat or earlier will not be eligible to receive Android 10. That puts flagships like the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8 out of the running, even though they may be fully capable of running Android 10. The same goes for any Galaxy device launched before 2018, as it was only last year that Samsung started releasing phones with Android Oreo out of the box.

So what Galaxy devices can we expect to get Android 10? Here’s a preliminary list:

The list above is based on Samsung’s traditional update policy, and the company’s official list of eligible devices may turn out to be different. It will be a few months before that official list comes out, though, so the best way to ascertain your Galaxy phone’s Android 10 eligibility right now is by checking the version of Android it ran out of the box.

An Android 10 beta program will come at some point

Samsung should eventually launch a beta program allowing users in some countries to test Android 10 before the official stable release. Samsung ran the Android Pie beta program for quite a few devices, and we should see something similar with the Android 10 beta program. In fact, we have it on good authority that Samsung will make the beta program official in late September and then kickstart it in some countries in October. That’s a month earlier than the Pie beta program, so there’s hope that the stable Android 10 update for at least the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 will also come out earlier than Android Pie.

Devices not eligible for Android 10 will still get security updates

Even if your Galaxy smartphone or tablet isn’t getting Android 10, it will continue to receive security updates as long as it not more than three years old. Some devices that launched more than three years ago will also get security updates from time to time; most of them will get these updates only when it’s necessary, but some–like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy A5 (2016)–will get them on a quarterly schedule even in their fourth year.

Hang tight for more info on Samsung’s Android 10 update

Samsung’s One UI 2.0 beta program has kicked off for the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note 10 series. Two beta builds have been released so far as the company makes further improvements to the software ahead of its official release. The beta program is a pretty good indication that it won’t be long now before Samsung starts rolling out the official Android 10 update for its flagship devices.

Samsung releases the Galaxy S10 Android 10 update to the public

Samsung released the Android 10 update for the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+ to the public on November 28, 2019. Germany was the first country to get it over-the-air. The firmware immediately became available for download from our firmware database.

We will be constantly updating this page and bringing you more information as the weeks and months go by, so don’t forget to bookmark this page and keep coming back to SamMobile. You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook to quickly get the latest information on Samsung’s Android 10 update.

Galaxy A71 grabs the May 2021 security update

We can confirm that the May 2021 security patch is now reaching its first variants of the Galaxy A71. A number of owners in Brazil were the first ones to get this particular firmware release, identified by the build version A715FXXU4BUE1.

A new newish security patch isn’t the only thing on board of this software deployment. That much, at least, we can tell you by looking at the firmware version, though we will have to wait and see what the changelog includes.

Galaxy A71 May update comes as June kicks off

Note that only the 4G LTE version of the Galaxy A71 seems to have started transitioning to the May 1st, 2021 security patch level as of today. The 5G model shouldn’t be too far behind, however, as is usually the case.

Both devices still have years of guaranteed software support ahead of them, but they’ve already fallen into the limelight of the newer, shinier, and just as aggressively priced Galaxy A72. The annual upgrade Samsung launched this spring was nothing short of spectacular, raising our expectations for Samsung’s future mid-rangers even further. And by now, we’re pretty much expecting them to compete with most flagships in nearly every way that matters.

Meanwhile, don’t forget that you can try scanning for this newest security release for your Galaxy A71 manually. Just go to Settings » Software update » Download and install. But don’t count on that attempt to work beyond Brazil just yet, as it can take a few days — or even weeks — for these rollouts to expand to a global scale. As usual, the latest firmware, once out for your country, can be downloaded from our firmware archive as well.

Today, we’ve got our hands on the complete specifications and press renders of the Galaxy A22 5G, leaving little to the imagination ahead of the launch.

Galaxy A22 5G specifications

The Galaxy A22 5G features a 6.6-inch IPS LCD Infinity-V display with Full HD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs Android 11 out of the box with One UI 3.1. At the front, it has an 8MP selfie camera hidden inside the V-shaped screen notch. At the rear, it has a triple-camera setup arranged in a square format. The rear-facing camera has a 48MP (F1.8) wide-angle camera, a 5MP (F2.2) ultrawide camera, and a 2MP (F2.4) depth sensor. The Galaxy A22 5G can record 4K videos using its primary 48MP camera sensor.

Connectivity features include 5G, 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Other features of the Galaxy A22 5G include Dolby Atmos audio, Samsung Pay, and a 5,000mAh battery that’s compatible with up to 15W fast charging.
