Verizon launches the Galaxy J3 V

Verizon launched the Galaxy J3 (2016) last month for $109.99 and now it has launched another variant of this handset. The Galaxy J3 V is available from Verizon starting today. There aren’t that many differences between both handsets, only that it has 16GB of internal storage instead of 8GB and is available for purchase on Verizon’s device payment plan.

The Galaxy J3 V features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.2Ghz quad-core processor, 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera, microSD card support, 2,600mAh removable battery, and Android 6.0.1. Verizon is offering the Galaxy J3 V on its device payment plan for $7 per month for 24 months and for $39.99 with a conventional two-year service contract. It costs $168 at full retail. The Galaxy J3 V is available from Verizon online starting today and it will also be available from the carrier’s stores starting June 23.

Verizon Galaxy Note 5 customers, Write on PDF is available for your device; here’s how to get it

You’re a Verizon USA Galaxy Note 5 customer who is unhappy with your Galaxy Note 5. The metal and glass design is just perfect, as is the S Pen, camera performance, Exynos 7420 octa-core processor (Samsung, Verizon customers would also LOVE the Exynos 8890 for the Galaxy Note 7 edge. Please?) and superb AMOLED display, but one of Samsung’s new features is missing on your device: Write On PDF. Unfortunately, Verizon decided that you didn’t need to write on PDFs, but fortunately, Samsung has come to the rescue once again. There is a Write on PDF function available from Samsung, and you need not install an APK from a developer website just to have this coveted function.

If your interest is peaked, let’s get started.

Retrieve Write On PDF

As a Verizon customer, let me say that I know how Verizon customers feel. You purchased one of the best devices on the market (it still is!) but feel cheated that Write On PDF was just suddenly removed from the Note 5 without you having any say-so in the matter at all. And why did Verizon have to remove this feature anyway? Is the Note 5 not a Samsung device? I know, I know, I know. This is where some would say, “This is why we need unlocked devices, smartphones directly from Samsung that bypass carriers.” Unfortunately, many customers can’t afford to go off-carrier, so we’d still end up at the carrier even if we purchased a model directly from Samsung (we just wouldn’t have missing features).

Regardless of how you feel about the significance or insignificance of carriers (the carrier model rules in the US, which is where we Verizon customers find ourselves), Samsung has a backup strategy designed to prevent carriers from removing its best features. What is this strategy? Samsung has placed Write On PDF in the Google Play Store. You need only visit the store and download the app. Within seconds, Write On PDF is now on your Galaxy Note 5.

write on pdf notes samsungOnce you install Write On PDF, you’ll now be able to select it to open any PDF file. From there, you can write on them, sign your name, and save your written notes and signatures. You may want to grab Write On PDF after grabbing the Verizon Note 5 June security patch, though.

Did you enjoy this simple tip? Would you like to see more how-tos provided for missing apps on carrier-locked models? Do you hope to not see any more like this because carriers stop removing Samsung features from Samsung-branded phones? We’re sure you have some input on this discussion.

Exclusive: Samsung’s next smartwatch is codenamed Solis, runs Tizen

The Gear S2 is the closest the industry has gotten to a perfect smartwatch. Samsung took a fair amount of time developing the Gear S2, opting to make things as good as possible instead of rushing out the door yet another smartwatch to add to its repertoire. Well, the company isn’t done yet – we have learned that the company is working on a new smartwatch, codenamed Solis.

The literal meaning of Solis is sun in the Spanish language, which is as good a hint as any that the smartwatch will have a circular display (the Gear S2 was codenamed Orbis, which means orbit, see what Samsung is doing here?). Well, not that Samsung would ever go back to rectangular displays for their smartwatches - no one wants their smartwatch looking like someone strapped a mini computer to their wrists, and a classic watch-like design and the rotating bezel for navigation are a great match.

The model numbers for Solis will be SM-R760, SM-R765, SM-R770, SM-R765V, and SM-R765S (the last two should be carrier variants). We can also confirm that the smartwatch will run Tizen (sorry, Android Wear fans) and come with an updated user interface. We don’t have any specs for the upcoming watch yet, but we can only assume it will be better than the Gear S2 in many aspects. A larger display option would certainly be great to see, as the Gear S2′s 1.2-inch display can be a tad too tiny when you have to use the touchscreen instead of the rotating bezel.

What do you think Samsung should offer with their next smartwatch? A larger display, longer battery life, more functionality, or something else? Sound off in the comments, and rest assured we will be bringing you more information on what could be the Gear S3 as and when we get new details.
