Galaxy Fold Premier Service live in latest Samsung Members update

The Samsung Members app has received an update in the US with new features for the Galaxy Fold, offering a taste of the Premier Service created by Samsung exclusively for Galaxy Fold customers. Galaxy Fold owners using Samsung Members version 12.02.02.2 can now receive support from a Fold Concierge via video chat or a dedicated toll-free number.

Galaxy Fold Premier Service rolls out Stateside

The Galaxy Fold is a unique device with a new form factor, new display technologies, and a few extra care instructions. The phone’s unique characteristics lead to a user experience that’s just as novel, and Samsung deemed it appropriate to create a special support service for the Galaxy Fold. Therefore, included in the phone’s $2,000 price is the Galaxy Fold Premier Service, which gives a direct line of communication with Samsung experts, i.e., Fold Concierges who offer 24-hour support and tailored guidance to Galaxy Fold owners.

Samsung Members version 12.02.02.2 opens this communication line, and following the latest update, Galaxy Fold users in the US can get in touch with a Samsung expert either via phone call or video call. The changelog also mentions “other feature enhancements and bug fixes” but doesn’t go into details.

If you reside in the United States and own a Galaxy Fold but you haven’t received the update and want to accelerate the process, you can download the latest Samsung Members version from our database.

Galaxy Fold success story continues in South Africa as pre-orders sell out

The Galaxy Fold went up for pre-order in more markets this week, and the device seems to enjoy a positive reception as pre-order stocks have been depleted in record times. South Africa is no exception, as Samsung revealed today that the first Galaxy Fold pre-order batch has already been sold out.

The company confirmed it is currently “working on increasing stock levels to keep up with demand.” It didn’t reveal exactly how many Galaxy Fold units have been pre-ordered in South Africa or when a new batch will arrive. Nevertheless, the device is supposed to go on sale in South Africa on October 18, and we assume a new pre-order batch will be made available before then.

Galaxy Fold – A huge success in limited quantities

The Galaxy Fold has been sold out in pretty much every market where it’s become available for pre-order, including South Korea, the US, Malaysia, and India. In part, this tells a lot about the excitement surrounding this new form factor, but in reality, Samsung also – willingly or unwillingly – facilitates this high demand through the way it released the Galaxy Fold in very limited quantities.

According to reports, the first Galaxy Fold pre-order batches didn’t exceed 2,000 units per market. Given this fairly low figure relative to the mobile industry, it would be an anomaly for Samsung not to sell the first batches like hotcakes.

But regardless of which perspective you prefer, the Galaxy Fold is an exciting new device for a lot of people, and thousands of early adopters around the world have already shown their interest in it. This will hopefully lead to further improvements and refinements for the second-generation Galaxy Fold or even for the future batches of the firs-gen device, especially since the vocal majority seems to have mixed opinions about it.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour Edition available starting today

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour Edition arrives in the United States today via Best Buy, where the 40mm model is available for the starting price of $309, or for $51.67 a month on a 6-month financing plan. Meanwhile, the larger variant with a 44mm dial costs $329, or $55 per month.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour Edition: same, but different

The Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armor Edition is virtually identical to the standard model, at least in terms of internal hardware specifications. It stands apart thanks to a UA-themed watch face and a unique silicon strap bearing the company logo. The 40mm model has a gray strap, while the 44mm model comes in black.

One other major difference between this and the standard model lies in the software and compatibility with other Under Armour products. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 UA Edition is the only Samsung smartwatch able to deliver up-to-the-minute stats and real-time form coaching when connected to the Under Armour HOVR Connected running shoes. In addition, the smartwatch ships with MapMyRun and six months of membership.

Best Buy states that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 Under Armour Edition will ship to customers by October 15. Check out the retailer’s page for more details, and share your thoughts below. Which Galaxy Watch Active model do you like more? Do you prefer the standard version or the UA Edition?

An affordable Galaxy S10 Lite (SM-G770) is in the works as well!

It looks like Samsung isn’t happy with sales despite making three and two models of its Galaxy S and Note flagships this year. We had exclusively reported that Samsung is working on a more affordable Galaxy Note model with model number SM-N770F, and it has now been discovered that an SM-G770F is in the works as well. This is likely to be the Galaxy S10 Lite if our sources are correct about the SM-N770F being the Galaxy Note 10 Lite.

Our sources have also told us that the SM-G770F should have the same specs as the Galaxy A91, something that is corroborated by the folks over at DroidShout, who originally revealed the existence of the SM-G770F. As we reported earlier today, the Galaxy A91 specs include a Snapdragon 855, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, 48MP main rear camera along with 12MP and 5MP ultra-wide and depth sensors, a 32MP front camera, 4,500 mAh battery with 45W charging, a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display, and Android 10.

If the two devices do end up sharing specs, then the Galaxy S10 Lite would be better than or equal to the Galaxy S10e in every aspect except the cameras. We have already seen 48MP rear and 32MP front cameras on mid-range Galaxies like the Galaxy A50s and Galaxy M30s, and they don’t come close to the quality of the cameras on Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series (or the S9 and Note 9 from last year). The S10 Lite would also trump the Galaxy S10, S10+ and the Note 10 in battery capacity and charging speed.

As usual, we don’t make any claims that all this information is 100% accurate. But, it does seem like Samsung’s next step in flooding the market with as many phones as possible will include lower-priced variants of its flagship smartphones. That makes sense for something like the Galaxy Note 10 Lite, which would have an S Pen to differentiate itself, but the Galaxy S10 Lite may not be so logical, especially if it ends up being practically the same phone as the Galaxy A91.

Exclusive: Full Galaxy A91 specs confirm Snapdragon 855, 45W charging

Samsung has been working on the Galaxy A91. We can now exclusively share the full Galaxy A91 specs which confirm that this device will indeed feature the Snapdragon 855. It’s also going to offer something which the Galaxy A90 5G doesn’t have, 45W Super Fast Charging.

The Galaxy A91 should be a part of Samsung’s 2020 Galaxy A series so it may not be released before next year. However, some reports suggest that it could be out before the end of this year.

Full Galaxy A91 specs

According to the information we have received, the Galaxy A91 (SM-A915F) features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also supports microSD expansion up to 512GB. All of this is exactly the same as the Galaxy A90 5G. That’s also the case with its 6.7-inch Full HD+ Infinity-U display.

It has the same 48-megapixel primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization but bumps up the ultra-wide from 8-megapixel to 12-megapixel. The 5-megapixel depth sensor is present as well. Samsung will opt for a f/2.2 aperture 32-megapixel front camera on the Galaxy A91.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac. It doesn’t have 5G support. The battery capacity is the same at 4,500mAh but unlike the Galaxy A90 5G, the Galaxy A91 will support 45W fast charging. That being said, it remains to be seen if it will actually come with this charger in the box or if Samsung will have us buy it separately as it does for the Galaxy Note 10+.

We recently reported that the Galaxy A91 is being developed with Android 10 on board. This suggests that the device would run the latest iteration of Android out of the box. If that were to be the case, it won’t be released before the Galaxy S11 next year. The Galaxy S flagship is always the first device to feature the latest core OS update. That’s unless Samsung has decided it no longer wants to do that.

There have been some unconfirmed reports that the Galaxy A91 might be released in countries like India before the end of this year. We have independently confirmed that the Indian model is being developed with Android 9 Pie. So even if it does come out, it won’t be running Android 10.

S Pen enthusiasts can purchase one of the three Galaxy Note 10 variants available from Verizon. Samsung and ESPN team up for live 4K sports telecasts

Samsung and ESPN have teamed up to upgrade the football-viewing experience on the former’s QLED TVs in the US. Starting October 12, ESPN will live telecast select regular-season college football games in native 4K resolution as part of the “Samsung QLED 4K Game of the Week” campaign, for which the Korean company is serving as a production collaborator and presenting sponsor.

The first such telecast will be the match between No. 7 University of Florida and No. 5 Louisiana State University at 8 p.m. ET tomorrow on ESPN and DIRECTV. This telecast is the first in a package of six college football games this season that will be delivered in 4K. Compatible equipment and eligible channel package are required for the 4K telecasts. Customers can go to Samsung.com/qledsports for game schedules, which will be announced on a weekly basis.

“This is why teaming up with ESPN for the Samsung QLED 4K Game of the Week is such a pivotal point for the TV industry. Being able to experience true, native 4K college football games live on ESPN for the first time ever is a game changer,” said Grace Dolan, Vice President, Marketing, Home Entertainment at Samsung Electronics America.

TV makers like Samsung have already started selling 8K televisions in the market, but there is virtually no content at that resolution yet to take advantage of the hardware. Though these TVs boast fancy upscaling methods as a stopgap solution, it’s no match for native high-resolution content. Television channels are just beginning to experiment with 4K telecasts, and it’s a long way before they become commonplace.

Exclusive: Galaxy Note 10 Lite is Samsung’s new affordable Galaxy Note

We previously reported that Samsung is working on a new Galaxy Note handset. This will likely be a model that’s more affordable compared to the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. We have received some information about this device that we would like to pass along.

Samsung appears to have decided on a name for this device. We hear that the new affordable model is going to be called the Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Since it carries the Galaxy Note 10 branding, Samsung could release it in the coming months.

Galaxy Note 10 Lite is what Samsung’s calling the SM-N770F

Samsung has already split the Galaxy Note series into two this year with the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+. There are some differences between the two models to justify the difference in price. That being said, many wouldn’t call the $949 Galaxy Note 10 affordable.

This is where a more affordable model comes in. Samsung has been developing one with the model number SM-N770F. We also know that it will be headed to Europe in at least two color options, black and red. We have now been told that this device is going to launch as the Galaxy Note 10 Lite.

As for what will make it an affordable Galaxy Note remains a mystery for now. Just how much can the company take away from the device to bring down the price and yet not dilute the Galaxy Note brand significantly remains to be seen. It would also need to offer S Pen support otherwise the device will go against the ethos of this series.

It would make sense for this device not to be branded the Galaxy Note 10e. The Galaxy S10e shared most of its specs with the Galaxy S10. That may not be the case for this device. Details about the specs and features of the Galaxy Note 10 Lite are limited at this point in time. We expect to hear more as the development progresses. Do keep in mind that this is all speculative at this point.

Does the idea of a more affordable Galaxy Note handset excite you? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
