Samsung Galaxy Golden 3 specifications leak, features Exynos 7420 processor

Samsung is still churning out clamshell smartphones, but their availability is limited to some Asian markets. After releasing the Galaxy Golden in 2013, the company was working on its successor, the Galaxy Golden 2, but it was released only in China. Now, it looks like Samsung is working on the SM-W2016, and going by its model number, the company might call it the Galaxy Golden 3.

The SM-W2016 has surfaced on GFXBench, and according to the information listed in the benchmark, the device looks like a clamshell version of the Galaxy S6. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and features a 4.6-inch HD display, an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, a 16-megapixel primary camera, and a 5-megapixel secondary camera.

There’s currently no information regarding the battery capacity of this device. It is completely possible that Samsung might release the Galaxy Golden 3 only in China and maybe South Korea, similar to its predecessors. If you are a fan of clamshell devices, would you buy the Galaxy Golden 3 if it releases in your country?

Samsung focussing on its online sales strategy for the Indian market

Samsung has been facing fierce competition in the Indian smartphone segment from the likes of Xiaomi, Motorola, OnePlus, and ASUS, and some Indian brands, which are focussing on online sales. Now, Samsung has revealed that the company is focussing on and fine tuning its online sales strategy in the country. The company is also focussing on sales from the rural market, which has contributed significantly to sales.

According to sources within the company, the South Korean smartphone giant is looking to tap into the booming e-commerce market in India, and the company has even a separate team at its headquarters to plan online sales strategy. The company had to face revolt from offline retailers after online retailers started providing huge discounts and price cuts on Samsung devices.

When asked about the company’s plan to tap into the e-commerce segment, Rushi Suri, Samsung India Director-Product Marketing Consumer Electronics, said, “For us the consumer is the key. Where the consumer would want us, we would be there and would be offering right kind of products at right price. In case of (consumer) electronics, the clear understanding with the management is where the consumer would want us, we would be there.

In terms of Samsung’s strategy to drive overall sales, it is focussing on ‘Made for India’ products that have the right set of features for the right prices. The company recently announced the Galaxy J series of smartphones, which have good value-for-money factor along with features such as 4G LTE and Ultra Data Saving mode that Indian consumers are demanding these days. However, the company’s official declined to comment on the percentage of sales that the company is attracting from the online channels.

iPhone 6s chip tests reveal no difference between Samsung and TSMC chips

A recent test conducted by Consumer Reports indicates that the difference between the A9 Samsung chip and the A9 TSMC chip is completely negligible. The latest test claims to be more accurate than the ones that pointed out a 20% performance difference between the two chipsets because it uses real life usage rather than relying on synthetic benchmark data which always forces the processor to run at maximum speed. Consumer Report argues that real life usage is truly what matters when it comes to performance and you shouldn’t really consider downsides that only exist on paper.

The whole chipset difference debate is very important to settle because it could very well cost Samsung’s business with Apple on the next iPhone 7. We’ve yet to hear if this chip difference claims have affected Samsung’s relationship with Apple but nothing is likely to happen considering that Consumer Reports says there was never really a chipgate to begin with given that real life usage is very stable.

Galaxy S7 to have magnesium alloy body and superior sound quality

If reports are to be believed Samsung might launch the Galaxy S7 in January next year, which would explain why all of a sudden there’s an influx of rumors and reports concerning the Galaxy S7. I’m not complaining though, many Samsung fans are looking forward to see what the company achieves with its next flagship smartphone, and from what has been reported so far it’s going to be a big upgrade over the Galaxy S6.

A new report out of China suggests that the Galaxy S7 is going to have a magnesium alloy body adorned with glass, not only will that make the device more sturdy but will also improve the premium feel which will certainly go a long way in convincing users that it’s a worthwhile upgrade. Another report says that the Galaxy S7 is going to tout superior sound quality as it will feature the SABRE 9018AQ2M chip by ESS Technology, it has a 129 dB signal-to-noise ratio and has support for formats such as DSD and PCM p to 32-bit and 384 KHz. The chip will enable users to get the same listening experience from digital and streaming music as they do from its analog counterpart. It’s interesting to note that this report comes at a time when Samsung is believed to be looking into a possible acquisition of Tidal, a Hi-fi music streaming service owned by Jay-Z. With the chip built-in the Galaxy S7 will become very enticing for audiophiles and may ultimately end up helping Samsung sell more of its flagship device.
