05-15-2015 Firmware Updates: Galaxy A7, Galaxy Ace 4 LTE, Galaxy Core Prime, and more

Samsung has a plethora of phones and tablets in its lineup, and regularly releases firmware updates for various devices. These can include major updates, which bring a newer version of the OS to a particular device, or minor ones that improve performance and stability and fix bugs. Software updates for Samsung devices roll out in various regions every day, and you can find out which firmware updates were pushed out by the company over the weekend through our firmware list.

As usual, you can download each of these firmware from our firmware section (simply enter your device’s model number to view all firmware for that device) in order to update to a new firmware manually, or as a means to return to your phone or tablet’s stock software.

Galaxy Note Edge sequel to be preceded by another device with Edge display?

The Galaxy S6 edge might have looked like an experiment thanks to its dual curved Edge display, but high consumer demand has easily turned it into a mainstream device. To meet this demand, Samsung was reported to have opened up a new factory to be able to produce more S6 edge displays, and if a new report is to be believed, the new factory is churning out enough curved displays for the company to start working on a new device with an Edge display.

As we had exclusively revealed, Samsung is supposedly working on the successor to the Galaxy Note Edge as a smartphone that won’t exactly mirror the Galaxy Note 5 in terms of hardware, but the report suggests the Korean manufacturer might come up with another device with an Edge display before the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Note Edge sequel get announced at IFA later this year. No other details have been given, but Samsung is apparently thinking that the success of the S6 edge is enough reason for it to dabble in another device with an Edge screen.

We wouldn’t mind seeing another smartphone as attractive and unique as the Galaxy S6 edge, though it would be great if Samsung doesn’t do what it always does and get carried away with making too many Edge phones, as that is sure to take away the charm of having such a device. But then again, there is no guarantee this report is entirely accurate, but considering the source’s track record, it’s not something that should be completely dismissed either.

Would you be interested in seeing more Samsung phones with these Edge displays, or do you think the company would be better off sticking to having just two flagships with such a screen each year?

Samsung has modified its logo on the Galaxy S6 edge on newer units

Samsung seems to have slightly changed the look of its logo on the Galaxy S6 edge (and possibly the Galaxy S6) in newer revisions of the device. On one of our Galaxy S6 edge’s bought in the initial batch, the Samsung logo at the front of the S6 edge had a highlight around each letter, but as you can see in the picture below, the highlighting has disappeared on newer units.

The highlighted logo is something that was very noticeable on the gold variant of the Galaxy S6 edge when the phone was launched, as it reflected light in odd ways at some angles and would sometimes look too dark as a result. It actually made us wonder whether it was a deliberate move on Samsung’s part, but it apparently wasn’t as is evident by the revised logo on the units that are on sale right now. We here at SamMobile are rather divided on which version looks better, though at the end of the day none of the revisions do anything to take away from the beauty of the device.

Which version do you have on your Galaxy S6, and which version do you like more? Let us know in the comments!

Samsung explains why the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge displays are awesome

Samsung knows, we know it, the consumer knows it. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are arguably the most attractive smartphones made by the Korean giant, with a metal and glass design that is extremely eye-catching. What is even more impressive is the fact that Samsung just doesn’t stop at the design, but also offers an outstanding experience once you switch on either device, thanks to what is the best Super AMOLED display yet.

Samsung has been going into details about how it went about developing various aspects of the Galaxy S6, and today, the company is doing the same for the phone’s display. Titled How the Galaxy S6 Display Gives an Immersive 3D-like Experience, Samsung’s latest editorial talks about features like the Adaptive Display mode that makes the displays suitable for usage under any lighting condition, their power efficiency, and how the curved display of the Galaxy S6 edge came about as a result of years of efforts that has seen the manufacturer produce better and better AMOLED panels each year.

“We have done everything we could do to provide a display that attracts customers and makes them want to have one,” says Samsung, and we would have to agree the company has done a stellar job. Head to the source link to read up on Samsung’s story on how the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge displays offer the best viewing experience available in the industry.
