Samsung Reminders can now sync with Microsoft To Do

Microsoft had announced two months ago that it is extending its partnership with Samsung and that their services would see further integration. It was revealed that Samsung Notes and Samsung Reminders data would sync with OneNote, Outlook, and To Do in the future. Now, the sync feature between Microsoft’s and Samsung’s services is live.

According to some users on Reddit, they’ve started seeing the cross-sync feature on their Galaxy smartphones and tablets after updating the Samsung Reminder app to version 11.6.01.1000. The changelog mentions “Sync with Microsoft To Do (Beta).” After installing the new version of Samsung Reminders, the sync option should appear as soon as you open the app. Once you sign in to your Microsoft account and give the necessary permissions, it asks you which Microsoft To Do list to sync with Samsung Reminders as it can only sync one list. Moreover, image reminders can’t be synced with Microsoft To Do.

You will also be able to see tasks synced with Outlook and Microsoft Teams. Note that entries that you’ve already made in the Samsung Reminders app won’t sync to To Do, and you’ll have to remake those tasks. It is also being reported that the two-way sync between Microsoft OneNote and Samsung Notes is live as well.

Have you started to see this new cross-sync feature on Samsung Notes and Samsung Reminders on your Galaxy device? Let us know in the comments section below.

Galaxy M02 specs revealed via Geekbench, features a Snapdragon chip

It was revealed last week that Samsung is working on two entry-level smartphones, the Galaxy A02 and the Galaxy M02. Their Bluetooth certifications gave us a hint yesterday that they could be the same phone with different marketing names. Now, the specifications of the Galaxy M02 have been revealed.

According to a Geekbench listing, the SM-M025F (Galaxy M02) runs Android 10 out of the box, which means it should debut with One UI 2. The smartphone uses a Qualcomm processor, and it is being rumored that it is the Snapdragon 450 chipset. It also features 3GB of RAM. We expect the phone to come with at least 32GB of storage and a dedicated microSD card slot for storage space expansion. The phone has also received the necessary certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance. It seems to feature single-band Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless connectivity.

Not much else is known about the Galaxy M02, but we expect it to come bearing better specifications than the Galaxy M01s, which was launched a few months ago. It featured a 6.2-inch LCD screen, Snapdragon 439 SoC, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP+2MP dual-camera, 8MP selfie camera, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Samsung UK is pushing the 5G hype train forward using a bus

Samsung UK is trying to push the 5G hype train forward using a bus. The company announced today the launch of the so-called 5G Bus at Samsung KX. It’s essentially a 5G zone shaped like a futuristic bus, designed to demonstrate some of the advantages of 5G networking such as having the ability to do office work or play videogames on the go.

The new 5G demo zone actually comprises three zones. There are the gaming and home office zones, as well as the life-sized bus in question. Visitors can experience gaming on the Odyssey G9 curved gaming monitor while in the gaming zone, or they can experience the power of 5G while playing Xbox games on the bus using a Galaxy Note 20 and Microsoft’s cloud-based Xbox Game Pass service. Guests can also play local multiplayer games in split screen mode on an 82-inch QLED 8K TV integrated with the bus.

Samsung continues to lead the 5G charge

Samsung also highlights how customers can improve remote productivity using 5G and the Galaxy Tab S7 together with accessories offered inside the bus. The company demonstrates how 5G enables remote working and connecting to home computers for fast file download speeds.

The 5G zone is situated in the west wing of Samsung’s experience space at King’s Crossing, and although the company’s 5G bus won’t become an actual public transport vehicle, it demonstrates what the future might look like in the emerging 5G era.

Samsung is one of the industry’s biggest 5G players at the moment. The company not only has over a dozen 5G-enabled devices under its belt but it’s also one of the world’s largest 5G network equipment supplier. It wants the technology to succeed so badly that it even created a 5G-centric podcast to explore the potential use cases of the technology.

Recent business trip suggests Samsung might have big plans for Vietnam

Samsung might be planning to make additional investments in Vietnam and increase its smartphone production capacity in the country. Vice President Lee Jae-Yong is visiting Vietnam this week after two years of absence. The VP flew to Hanoi earlier today and will attend a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday, reveals a recent report by The Korea Herald.

The purpose of this trip is not very clear but Samsung’s heir and the Vietnamese Prime Minister might be discussing the possibility of building a semiconductor facility in Hanoi. The country’s official had asked Samsung to consider building a chip manufacturing plant in Vietnam last year when attending a private meeting in Seoul, and Lee Jae-Yong might finally have an answer.

There might be other reasons behind this trip. The VP is accompanied by the chief of mobile, Roh Tae-Moon, as well as the head of Samsung Display, Lee Dong-Hoon. Therefore, the purpose of this meeting could be to discuss potential expansion plans for mobile phone and/or display manufacturing in the country.

Samsung is already making efforts to rely less on its supply chain from China and has relocated its PC monitor as well as its TV production lines to Vietnam. The company is already manufacturing most of its smartphones in Vietnam and perhaps Samsung is looking to increase the production capacity in the country.

Finally, Samsung’s executives are also expected to visit an R&D center that’s being constructed in Hanoi. The outcome of this visit should become clearer in the coming days. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.

Galaxy S20 gets yet another firmware update with camera improvements

Samsung is releasing yet another firmware update for the Galaxy S20 series. The update is rolling out in a few European countries but oddly enough, the firmware version differs in some markets. For example, the Galaxy S20 series in the Netherlands is getting firmware version G98xxXXU5BTJ1, whereas in Germany the same update carries firmware version G98xxXXU5BTJ3.

The changelog looks familiar and mentions camera improvements without providing any additional details. Either way, we’re unsure why Samsung is making things more confusing with different build numbers, and given these inconsistencies, we’re beginning to wonder if the firmware update does indeed bring any camera improvements or if we’re looking at a generic, copy-pasted changelog. We’ll keep you posted if we notice any improvements to the camera experience but so far we have nothing to report on this front. The Galaxy S20 lineup was already updated with the October 2020 security patch so the security of the device hasn’t been improved either.

This is the fourth firmware update for the Galaxy S20 series over a period of a few weeks. It’s rolling out in stages and should be available for both the LTE and 5G variants. You can try to install the update by opening Settings on your phone, accessing Software update, and tapping Download and install. As always, we offer an alternative way to update. You can skip the waiting and download the firmware for your device and region from our firmware section, then install it on your phone using a Windows PC.

Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M02 could be one and the same, Bluetooth reveals

2021 is only a couple of months away and you can be certain that several Galaxy smartphones scheduled for release next year are already in development. Our attention was recently drawn to the Galaxy S21 series on account of a few leaked renders and a rumor of an early launch, but Samsung is also working on a couple of models for the more budget conscious Galaxy M and Galaxy A lineups. They’re known as the Galaxy A02 and the Galaxy M02, and they were both spotted recently at Bluetooth SIG.

Of course, this is not the first time we hear about these upcoming devices. The Galaxy A02 was previously spotted in the Geekbench database, and both the Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M02 were later discovered on the Nemco AS website. Now the’ve been approved by Bluetooth SIG over the weekend but the certificate doesn’t reveal any specifications aside from Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.

And it is ‘certificate‘ – singular – because both the Galaxy A02 and the Galaxy M02 were mentioned in the same Bluetooth SIG application that addresses model numbers SM-A025F and SM-M025F. Another unusual detail is that the A-series phone is referred to as the Galaxy A02s, even though history indicates that the SM-A025F model number should correspond to a non-s Galaxy A variant.

Either way, the odd listing suggests that the Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M02 might be identical, save for the branding, and that Samsung might be planning to release them in separate markets. This could also mean that the preliminary specifications pertaining to the Galaxy A02 should describe the Galaxy M02 in equal measure. Both phones are likely to sport 2GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of built-in memory, and they could share the same color palette expected to include black, blue, and red.

Galaxy Fit 2 hits India: Fitness trackers don’t get more affordable than this

The Galaxy Fit 2 officially released in India as of today, offering a contemporary fitness tracking experience at an extremely aggressive price point. Currently at Rs. 3,999 ($54), the gadget marks Samsung’s latest wearable push; one that’s all about accessibility. Because at this price point, the Galaxy Fit 2 should easily take on even the most affordable smart bands from Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Huawei, and Amazfit.

Available in black and scarlet, the Galaxy Fit 2 can already be ordered from Amazon India or bought from any number of Samsung’s retail outlets throughout the country, as well as those from its licensed distributors. With that said, the online storefront of Samsung India still isn’t accepting orders as of 4 PM IST.

The Galaxy Fit 2 is the new smart band to beat

Announced in early September, the Galaxy Fit 2 punches quite a bit above its weight in virtually every respect. From the 3D glass of its 1.1-inch full-color AMOLED display to up to three weeks of standalone operation on a single battery charge, not to mention half a dozen types of various automatic exercise tracking modes, this wearable aims to be much more than just a mere entry point into the world of fitness trackers. Granted, it does more than decently in that role, regardless.

And if that wasn’t enough, the Galaxy Fit 2 also boasts a 5 ATM certification guaranteeing water resistance at up to 50 meters underwater, offers hand washing reminders, tracks your sleep, and supports more than 70 watch faces catering to a wide variety of styles. All the while weighing just 21g, which is light enough to make you forget you’re even wearing it. Finally, you can use Bluetooth 5.1 to pair it with pretty much any contemporary Android smartphone, not just those from Samsung.

Galaxy A51 now receiving One UI 2.5 update

Some international variants of the Galaxy A51 started receiving the One UI 2.5 update over the weekend, together with the latest Android security patch level dated October 1st, 2020. The rollout started yesterday in Russia and while it has yet to expand to more countries, the wait shouldn’t be too long. After all, it hasn’t even been a full week since the same software upgrade began reaching the Galaxy A71.

This particular release, build version A515FXXU4CTJ1, is targeting Galaxy A51 devices carrying model number SM-A515F. And the fact that it combines a new security patch with a more comprehensive update to Samsung’s custom Android implementation explains why the former is a bit late to start deploying. As a reminder, it’s been over six weeks since the September security update started rolling out to the same Galaxy A51 models.

Samsung’s ultimate Android 10 experience

As per usual, you can already download the original system images from our firmware archives. That’s in case you aren’t willing to wait for the One UI 2.5 update to reach you naturally and instead want to manually flash it onto your Galaxy A51. Backing up your data prior to doing so is strongly advised. And once your backup is in order, it doesn’t hurt to try triggering the over-the-air installation one final time by launching the Settings app, tapping the Software update item near the bottom of its menu, and selecting the Update and install option on the next interface that greets you.

As for the update itself, One UI 2.5 is essentially the ultimate version of the Android 10 experience Samsung put together for its smartphone customers. Among other things, it introduces various camera advances, expands Always On Display functionality to Bitmoji, and adds a wide range of minor fixes and stability improvements. The Galaxy A51 almost certainly isn’t getting the full scope of the update due to hardware limitations, but with no official changelog being available as of Monday morning CET, we’re still trying to figure out what exactly made the cut.
