When Samsung announced the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge back in February, it also took the wraps off its latest collection of portable accessories to utilize fast charging technology. Now the firm is back to show us the effect juicing up using the Wireless Charger and Battery Pack has on its flagship smartphones. As you can see in the short videos below, the results are pretty astonishing with a mere 10-minutes of charging generating enough juice to browse the Internet or play a game for 60-minutes.
The firm will also be awarding the first 777 users each hour with a $10 gift card that can be used in American Eagle Outfitters, Best Buy, Domino’s, GameStop, Nike, P.F. Changs and Regal Entertainment Group. The cards will be up for grabs every Friday between 12 pm and 7 pm ET, with the promotion expiring on Friday, July 8. Unfortunately, these deals are only live in the United States, but Samsung is expected to kick them off in Spain in the not-too-distant future.
Just yesterday T-Mobile released the much awaited Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Note 4. It certainly took its time in bringing Marshmallow to this handset. Today the company is rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. Since both devices have already been upgraded to Marshmallow this is an incremental update only.
T-Mobile has updated the Galaxy S6 to software version G920TUVU4EPF1 and the Galaxy S6 edge to G925TUVU4EPF1. Both feature an anti-theft update, various bug fixes and improvements as well as the all-important June security patch for the handsets. The update files weigh less than 250MB and are now being rolled out over-the-air for the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge on T-Mobile.
There’s consensus on the street that Samsung is going to register robust growth in the second quarter of this year with one of the contributing factors being the stellar performance of the Galaxy S7. Market analysts now expect the company to post 8 trillion won ($6.8 billion) in operating profit in the second quarter, the new estimate is higher than previous market estimates.
Analysts expect that Samsung’s consumer electronics business is going to show improved performance in this quarter while the IT and mobile communications business will be helped by the Galaxy S7′s popularity. Multiple market analysts are now expecting the company to post impressive numbers when the results for this quarter are released and there’s no indication so far which points to these estimates being fundamentally flawed. Looks like Samsung is in for a good quarter.
Earlier today, Samsung started pushing out the much-anticipated Android 6.0.1 update to all unlocked variants of the Galaxy S5 Neo located in Europe. The upgrade, which carries the build number: G903FXXU1BPD4, brings all of the changes you’d expect to find baked into Marshmallow, in addition to a handful of additional bug fixes and stability improvements that are targeted at making the fingerprint scanner more reliable.
If you’re the proud owner of a Galaxy S5 Neo and would like to see if the upgrade is ready for your handset, simply head into Settings, followed by About Device, select Software Update, then hit the Update Now button. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to download and install the update from Samsung’s servers, but you’ll only receive this prompt if you have at least 50% of battery.
