Galaxy Note 9 in white color officially launched by Samsung Taiwan

The reports about Samsung launching the Galaxy Note 9 in white color have turned out to be accurate. Samsung Taiwan has officially launched this new color option for the flagship today. It had confirmed four days ago that a white color option will be available soon for customers in the country.

The color option is apparently being called “First Snow White” to commemorate the first snowfall of the year for Taiwan. It’s a nice, clean white color with a white S Pen to match.

Samsung launches Galaxy Note 9 in white for customers in Taiwan

Samsung currently offers the Galaxy Note 9 in Lavender Purple, Metallic Copper, Midnight Black, Ocean Blue and Cloud Silver colors. The availability of these options varies by market. Nothing else is different about this device. It’s the same Galaxy Note 9 we all know and love with 128GB of storage. Samsung has merely applied a fresh coat of paint to the back. The company often launches new color options for its flagship smartphones to drive up sales. That’s precisely what it has done here.

Note fans will be well aware that this is the first Galaxy Note device to be offered in white since the Galaxy Note 5 which was released back in 2015. Furthermore, Samsung has only confirmed its launch for Taiwan so far. The company hasn’t confirmed or denied if it’s going to offer this color option in other markets. It may find customers for it in other parts of the world as well due to the upcoming holiday season.

Samsung Taiwan is positioning the Galaxy Note 9 in white as a must-have item for Christmas and the New Year. It unveiled the color option earlier today at the Galaxy Studio in the Xinyi business district of Taipei. The Galaxy Note 9 in First Snow White will be exclusively sold through Samsung’s retail channels in Taiwan starting early next month. NT$30,900 or $998 is what the company will be charging for it.

Introducing a site-wide Dark Mode on SamMobile!

You may have to wait until January 2019 for Samsung to give you the dark mode but we’re offering it to our readers starting today. SamMobile’s new site-wide Dark Mode is now live. Starting today, readers logged into their SamMobile account will find the button for the Dark Mode in the upper right-hand corner.

Clicking on that little moon icon will instantly apply the Dark Mode to the entire site. Not only is it more visually comfortable but it looks great as well, if I do say so myself. You can click on the sun icon that appears in the moon’s place to enable the light mode whenever you want. The Dark Mode is available on both the desktop and mobile versions of the site. The button is in the hamburger menu of the mobile site.

Do keep in mind that our Dark Mode is still in beta. We’re rolling it out so that our readers can also experience it and provide feedback if they find anything that’s not as it should be. What do you think about SamMobile’s site-wide Dark Mode? Vote below and do share your thoughts with us in the comments section.

Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie beta firmware also being tested in the US

The possibility of an One UI (Android Pie) beta program for the Galaxy Note 9 came to light yesterday when beta Android 9 firmware for the phone were discovered for Europe and South Korea. It was the first solid hint that Samsung could finally be launching a beta program for a Galaxy Note flagship. And a beta firmware that Samsung is testing in the US is now providing us with more evidence.

Galaxy Note 9 owners may yet get access to the One UI beta program

Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 Android Pie builds for the US carrier variants had leaked a few weeks before the S9 beta went live. And now, we have come across a beta build – N960U1UEU1ZRKG – for the unlocked Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960U1) for the US. For those who missed our story about the Note 9 beta yesterday, Samsung employes the letter Z for firmware builds that it releases as part of its beta programs. With a Galaxy Note 9 beta build now in development for the US model in addition to the Note 9 sold in Europe and South Korea, there’s a higher chance of the device joining Samsung’s One UI beta program in the near future.

If we were to guess, Samsung may choose to add the Galaxy Note 9 to the party with the second phase of the Galaxy S9 beta. Yet, with no official word from Samsung, we can only wait and see if the company will actually let Note 9 owners test out Android Pie and One UI before the official January release. If it doesn’t, you can leave it to us to tell you about all the new features Android Pie will introduce to Samsung Galaxy devices.

Samsung Galaxy F foldable phone could be exclusive to EE in the UK

The long-awaited Samsung foldable phone, supposedly called the Galaxy F, could be exclusive to EE in the UK. The carrier is reportedly in talks with Samsung to become the sole distributor of the phone in the country. And if the deal goes ahead as planned, EE will sell both on contract and SIM-free Galaxy Fs. The SIM-free variant, however, will also be available through dedicated Samsung stores.

The Galaxy F, which was first shown at the SDC 2018 a couple of weeks ago, is expected to release in March next year.

Galaxy F could be a mega-expensive device

If you’ve already decided to buy the Galaxy F, be prepared to pay a lot. You may, in fact, want to pay monthly for the Samsung foldable phone, rather than all at once, because it’s gonna cost you big. Earlier reports suggested the phone to cost as high as $1,700 (around £1,365). Now the latest report puts it at an even bigger price bracket of £1,500 – £2,000 ($1,930 – $2,570).

Apparently, Samsung will offer the Galaxy F with multiple configurations. But even then, the cheapest model will cost higher than earlier estimates suggested, while the most expensive one may well breach the £2,000 mark.

Splitting the cost to monthly installments could be the best idea if you’re already on the EE network. However, if you’re not, and don’t want to join either, Samsung does offers a contract system for its SIM-free phones. The company lets you pay off some of its phones over two years. Now it remains to be seen if Samsung will include the Galaxy F into this programme.

While it may be hard to justify the Galaxy F’s cost at the moment, Samsung very well knows what it’s making. The company has already confirmed that it will produce one million units of the foldable smartphone initially. And that only speaks about the confidence the company has on the phone. There’s no word yet on whether the phone will be exclusive to certain regions. However, one shouldn’t be surprised if that happens, given it’s not a device with mass appeal.
