Samsung working on a fix for WhatsApp Dual Messenger file sharing issue

Samsung’s Dual Messenger feature allows users to install two separate instances of popular instant messaging apps. This allows users to have two different Snapchat or WhatsApp accounts on the same phone. However, some users have been facing issues while using WhatsApp in the Dual Messenger mode, and Samsung is planning to fix those issues.

Galaxy smartphone users have been facing an issue where they are unable to send files saved on the phone via WhatsApp in the Dual Messenger mode. Moreover, users are unable to open files received via WhatsApp. This problem is present on WhatsApp version 2.21.10.16 (or later). Samsung has announced via its forum that it will fix this issue with a software update in the future.

Until then, Samsung recommends sending files by opening the Gallery or My Files app, selecting the files, and sharing them via WhatsApp’s second instance. To open files received on WhatsApp, the South Korean firm recommends forwarding them to your first WhatsApp account and opening them from there. Samsung had introduced the Dual Messenger feature four years ago.

July 2021 security update hits the Galaxy A50

Samsung had started rolling out the July 2021 security update to its smartphones and tablets in the last week of June. The Galaxy S10 was the first smartphone to get the update. Eventually, the Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 20, and other smartphones got the update as well. Now, the company has started rolling out the update to the Galaxy A50.

The carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy A50 (SM-A505U) has started getting a new software update on Sprint’s network in the US. The latest update, which has firmware version A505USQSDDUF1, includes the July 2021 security patch. According to Samsung’s own documentation, the July 2021 patch fixes more than 20 vulnerabilities related to user privacy and data security. It could also include a fix for the Android Auto bug that was discovered a few weeks ago.

If you are a Galaxy A50 user on Sprint’s network in the US, you can check for the latest update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also flash the update manually after downloading the latest firmware file from our firmware database. The update could roll out to the Galaxy A50 on more US networks over the next few days.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy A50 in early 2019 with Android 9 Pie. The company had released the Android 10-based One UI 2 update to the smartphone in March 2020 and the Android 11 update in March 2021.

This leak confirms August 11 launch for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3

We know that Samsung will conduct an Unpacked event in the near future to unveil its new devices. The company has a lot of new stuff up its sleeve. There’s the new foldable smartphones, a pair of wireless earbuds and a new smartwatch.

The company has yet to confirm when the event will take place. Earlier indications have pointed to August 11 as the potential date. Today’s leak basically confirms that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 launch will indeed take place on August 11.

Mark your calendars for August 11

This leak appears to be a teaser that was posted on one of Samsung’s regional websites. It clearly mentions that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on August 11 at 17:00 Moscow time. That would make it 10 am on the US East Coast and 3 PM in London.

The teaser also includes silhouettes of devices that are clearly the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It’s not like the launch of these devices at the event would have caught anyone by surprise. Samsung will be unveiling both new foldables at the same event.

Customers will likely be able to place pre-orders that same day or the following day. Several leaks have highlighted the possibility that the new foldables will be released on August 27. That’s plausible because Samsung usually leaves about a two-week gap between the announcement and the release.

This Unpacked event will be conducted virtually as well as all of Samsung’s events in the past year. The company isn’t quite back to in-person events just yet. You’ll be able to tune into the live stream on YouTube while also keeping up with the coverage here at SamMobile.
