Exclusive: Galaxy J6 Prime could come in red, complete specs revealed

Samsung is preparing a Galaxy J6 variant called the Galaxy J6 Prime, something that was revealed through various appearances of a device with the model number SM-J610F. We have now been able to get hold of the complete spec sheet of the Galaxy J6 Prime, which may also be launched in some markets as the Galaxy J6+. We have also learned that color options for the Galaxy J6 Prime could include red and grey in addition to the usual black.

Galaxy J6 Prime: Side-mounted fingerprint sensor, no AMOLED?

The regular Galaxy J6 looks quite pretty in blue, and it looks like Samsung is experimenting with new colors for the bigger variant of the Galaxy J6. Yes, the Galaxy J6 Prime will include a 6-inch display, although the resolution will remain at 1480×720 pixels. It’s an Infinity display as expected, but there’s a chance the Galaxy J6 Prime will have an LCD panel and not an AMOLED panel. It will, however, get a dual camera setup like the Galaxy J8, with a pair of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors at the back.

For the front camera, there’s a single 8-megapixel sensor. A fingerprint sensor is on-board, and it’s actually possible it will be mounted at the side of the device as suggested by recently leaked renders. Under the hood, the Galaxy J6 Prime specs will include a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The processor is another downgrade it seems, at least as far as the number of cores are concerned. While a previous report said the J6 Prime could have a Snapdragon 450 SoC, our information suggests that Samsung could go for something like the Snapdragon 425.

RAM options will include 3GB and 4GB (like the regular J6), along with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage (and a microSD slot). The battery capacity will be 3,300 mAh (vs 3,000 mAh on the J6), charged at regular speeds via a microUSB port, and the phone will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Dual SIM slots and LTE connectivity are included as well.

As usual, we can’t guarantee that our information is 100 percent correct. With support pages online on Samsung’s website and at least the FCC certification received by the Galaxy J6 Prime/J6+ already, it shouldn’t be long before we get official word on everything the phone will offer and its price tag and release date.
