BREAKING: You need to see these Galaxy Watch 4 images!

Samsung will unveil two new smartwatches—Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4—in August. The 3D CAD renders of the Galaxy Watch Active 4 were leaked a couple of days ago. Now, the first official renders of the Galaxy Watch 4 have been leaked for the first time, revealing all the colors the smartwatch would be available in.

The first official renders of the Galaxy Watch 4 were published by 91Mobiles. It looks like Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartwatch has a metal case with two flat buttons on the side. The buttons do not follow the same design that is featured on the Galaxy Watch 3. The Galaxy Watch 4 will be available in at least four case colors: black, olive green, rose gold, and silver.

We can also see the smartwatch’s heart rate sensor in some images. The top button has a red tint, which means that these are the LTE versions of the Galaxy Watch 3. All these variants of the smartwatch have silicon bands, which are easily replaceable. We can also see at least four new attractive watch faces, and one of those features Samsung’s AR Emojis.

Traditionally, the non-Active variant of the Galaxy Watch comes with a rotating bezel, but it is not visible in these Galaxy Watch 4 images. Apparently, the Galaxy Watch 4 will reportedly come in two variants this year, one with a rotating bezel and the other without it. These images could be of the variant without the rotating bezel.

Galaxy Watch 4 features, specs

The Galaxy Watch 4 sports a circular Super AMOLED display, and the device comes in two sizes. Samsung has confirmed that its next-generation smartwatches will run Google’s brand new Wear OS instead of Tizen. We had revealed a few weeks ago that the Galaxy Watch 4 will come with the One UI 3.x skin on top of Wear OS. It will use the next-gen 5nm Exynos processor.

We can expect Samsung to equip the Galaxy Watch 4 with an accelerometer, barometer, BIA sensor for body fat measurement, compass, GPS, gyro, heart rate monitor, SpO2 tracking, and sleep tracking. It also features Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 with LE, loudspeaker, and microphone. It is expected to feature two-day battery life and wireless charging.

Galaxy A6 (2018) picks up the May 2021 security update

The May 2021 security update started reaching some variants of the Galaxy A6 (2018). Identified by PDA version A600GNUBU9CUE3, Samsung’s latest firmware release has been spotted in both the United States and Colombia as of yesterday.

The May 1st, 2021 security patch level has been rolling out worldwide for about two months by now. Within that period, Samsung started 552 other deployments covering over 100 devices across 34 countries, including the one at hand.

How long will the Galaxy A6 (2018) be supported?

Seeing how the Galaxy A6 is now fast-approaching three full years of age, its updates have already slowed down a bit, but you can expect them to continue coming out for at least another year, give or take a few weeks. As for this month’s release, if you happen to be impatient to get your hands on the May 2021 security update for your Galaxy A6 (2018), you have a few options at your disposal. Besides from simply waiting for the rollout to reach you naturally, of course.

The most straightforward way to speed things up is to go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Right now, this is most likely to work if you’re located in the U.S. Colombia, for obvious reasons. Failing that, our firmware archives stand ready and at your disposal; simply download the full system images for your Galaxy A6 (2018) and flash them to the device manually.

In related news, Samsung promised to talk smartphone security at this year’s Galaxy Session constituting the entirety of its MWC 2021 appearance. So do join us in watching that event live on Monday if you want to find out more about the subject matter and what Samsung has been doing to protect your sensitive data.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 release window indirectly confirmed by supplier

One of Samsung’s component suppliers appears to have confirmed the release window for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. In fact, we’re already familiar with this company, seeing how the source of today’s report is none other than S-Connect; a publicly traded Korean manufacturer that already disclosed some rough estimates regarding the planned release windows of multiple Samsung devices set to debut by the end of the year.

According to S-Connect’s latest communication to shareholders, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is schedule to debut in either August or September. That’s pretty much on par with recent rumors in the space. For the uninitiated, S-Connect has been supplying the hinges for Samsung’s foldable smartphones since the original Galaxy Fold recall.

S-Connect has been a pretty credible source so far

Back in early spring, S-Connect also suggested the Galaxy Z Flip 2/3 will launch around the same period. Given everything that’s been going on lately, it would seem that prediction is also on course to proving correct. And if you remember the old rumors about a potential Galaxy Z Flip Lite being in the works, it was S-Connect’s public disclosures about their supply agreements with Samsung that pretty much squashed those.

All in all, we’d say they’ve been a credible source so far, so if their supply roadmap claims the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be with us come September, you better believe it will. As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to launch with the Snapdragon 888/888+, 12/16GB of RAM, 256/512GB of storage space, a 4,400mAh battery, 6.2-inch cover display, and a 7.5-inch foldable screen with HDR10+ support, both running at 120Hz refresh rates. Oh, and S Pen support, if you care for that sort of thing.

How to watch Samsung doing Google a favor at MWC 2021, live

For this year’s iteration of Mobile World Congress, Samsung is hosting an all-virtual event called Galaxy Session where the company promised to talk – what else but – its upcoming tech. The focus will be on the possibilities enabled by the very same and how those can “enrich” one’s lifestyle. More specifically, we’re expecting some Wear OS announcements at the event, all as a prelude to the launch of the Galaxy Watch 4 series later this year.

All of this is happening much to Google’s relief, mind you. And for the uninitiated, the Galaxy Session will constitute the majority of Samsung’s participation in the MWC 2021. The Seoul-based company already confirmed it won’t be physically attending the event some two months back.

Will Samsung’s new tech live up to its claims of lifestyle enrichment?

Samsung’s switch to Wear OS is said to present some new opportunities for both users and developers alike. Samsung will also touch upon the growing importance of mobile security, one of Samsung’s core strategic goals in the product space. In fact, communicating the paramount importance of mobile security is very much on Samsung’s MWC 2021 agenda, according to the company’s announcement of the event.

As for how to tune in and watch the happening live, you have two options at your disposal: Samsung YouTube and Samsung Newsroom. Both will be streaming this year’s Galaxy Session which kicks off on Monday, 19:15 CET. That’s 10:15 PT, 13:15 ET, and 22:45 IST. As always, we’ll be following the session live, so the simplest way to stay on top of next week’s events is to simply keep up with our coverage. We’ll also embed the live YouTube stream in this article when the event kicks off, so be sure to bookmark the page.

Latest Galaxy A52 update lets you improve your photos at a touch of a button

Here’s something nice for all the Galaxy A52 owners out there. Samsung has released a new update for its mid-range phone that packs a number of improvements, and one of these is improved stability for face recognition so the phone is better able to detect your face when you’re trying to unlock it. The update also introduces the option to remaster your photos in the Samsung Gallery app, so you can touch up your selfies and make them (and, in turn, yourself) look better, all at the touch of a button.

Of course, you aren’t limited to just touching up selfies with the remaster option, as it works with all kinds of photos. The results aren’t always that good compared to the original photo, but the remaster option is great if you’re not willing to do some manual editing using the Gallery app’s more advanced editing tools. You can check out this link to see an example of what the remaster feature has to offer.

The update also brings improvements to camera stability, camera picture quality, and call quality, though we have seen these in changelogs for previous Galaxy A52 updates as well so there may not be any actual improvements with the latest release. And for those wondering, yes, this update also includes the June 2021 security patch, just like the update that preceded it a couple of weeks back. Details on the June security patch can be found here.

The latest Galaxy A52 firmware – version A525FXXU2AUF3 – is currently rolling out for the 4G model in dozens of countries, and the 5G model should follow suit in the near future. It’s available for download over the air from the phone’s Settings » Software update menu; you can also grab the latest firmware from our archives and upgrade your phone manually using a Windows PC.

Fearing Apple, Samsung requests LG to sell Galaxy phones in its stores

What could Samsung possibly want from LG? The two used to be fierce competitors in the smartphone market at one time but are now at complete polar opposites. Samsung is one of the largest smartphone vendors in the world. LG has admitted defeat and formally exited the smartphone market.

Like Samsung, LG is a conglomerate with many different businesses under its umbrella. Among them is the vast retail network of LG Best Shops in South Korea that sell mobile devices, smartphones, home appliances, etc. With the threat of Apple on the horizon, Samsung is now requesting LG to sell its Galaxy phones at the LG Best Shops.

Samsung wants to stop Apple, even if it has to swallow its pride

It was recently reported that LG is going to sell Apple products including the iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch at its 400 LG Best Shops across South Korea from August 1. Major Korean carriers are apparently opposed to the decision but LG Electronics, which runs this retail network, has decided to sell Apple products.

This decision appears to have distressed Samsung. The company is reportedly seeking an urgent cooperation with LG so that its Galaxy phones are also sold in the LG Best Shops. The request has been made to LG Electronics on behalf of Samsung Electronics by three of the country’s largest carriers.

Samsung seeks to protect its 5G smartphone market share. It could be under threat if Apple’s 5G iPhones are sold through such a major retail network. The company wants to contain iPhone sales in the country as much as possible. That’s why it seeks cooperation with LG Electronics.

Sources in the South Korean telecommunications company say that it’s unusual for Samsung to make such a request. That’s due to the relationship between Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. They have long been rivals and Samsung has beaten LG in the smartphone market. However, with the Apple threat now looming, Samsung is having to swallow its pride as it wants LG to consider its request.

Those sources believe it’s unlikely that LG Electronics will consider this request even if its being made by the major carriers. There’s also opposition from the National Mobile Telecommunications Distribution Association. It’s concerned about small and medium-sized distribution networks seeing a decline in sales as a result of this.

Samsung may also see opposition to this cooperation with LG from within the company. Samsung Digital Plaza, the company’s own retail network, gets about a third of its sales from smartphones. Digital Plaza sales could thus take a hit if Galaxy phones are sold through LG Best Shops.

Windows 11 lets you run Android apps natively on your Samsung laptop

Ever wanted to run Android apps right on your Samsung laptop? Well, you can do something like that using Microsoft’s Your Phone app and Samsung DeX. But that works by running the app on your Galaxy phone and then streaming it to your laptop’s display, which isn’t a native experience. With Windows 11, you can natively run Android apps on your Samsung laptop.

Microsoft unveiled the next major version of the Windows operating system—Windows 11—last night. It features a redesigned UI with a frosted glass look, a centrally aligned Start Menu, an improved Action Center and notifications area, and modern iconography. But more importantly, the company has built a system that lets users natively run Android apps on their computers running Windows 11. The new feature is compatible with 64-bit AMD, Intel, and ARM-based processors such as the Galaxy Book Go’s Snapdragon 7c Gen 2.

Samsung laptops can run Android apps natively with Windows 11

The company is using Intel’s Bridge technology to run Android apps on Windows 11. And those apps can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store, which is integrated with Amazon’s app store collection. Android apps can be resized like any other Windows application, but don’t expect them to scale well as there is a lot of fragmentation in screen sizes and aspect ratios in the PC segment.

Microsoft will release the first beta (Insider) build of Windows 11 next week, and the stable version will be released sometime in Q4 of 2021. However, a broader rollout will happen in Q1 of 2022. Windows 11 is a free upgrade for those who already have a genuine copy of the Windows 10 operating system.

Windows 11: Minimum system requirements

Most Samsung laptops, including the ARM-based ones, should be capable of running Windows 11. Minimum system requirements to run Windows 11 include a dual-core 1GHz processor (64-bit only), 4GB RAM, 64GB or higher storage, UEFI and Secure Boot, TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module), a 720p display, and an active internet connection.

Samsung explains everything about The Frame TV’s Art Store via this infographic

Samsung’s lifestyle TV, The Frame, is designed in such a way that it looks like a photo or art frame hung on your wall. It can display art pieces or your family pictures when no one is using the TV. Art pieces can be downloaded from Samsung’s Art Store, which has a diverse collection of famous paintings and art pieces in 4K resolution. Samsung has now published an infographic that tells you everything about the Art Store.

The Art Store is a digital marketplace designed by Samsung where users can buy digital versions of world-famous paintings and art pieces. These paintings come from world-class museums and art galleries around the world. Right now, the Art Store has more than 1,500 pieces of art, designed by more than 626 artists, and they are collected from 42 countries around the world.

The content available in the Art Store is collected from various time periods (575 AD to 2021) and includes Ancient, Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionism, Post Impressionism, and Contemporary art. You can find paintings by Claude Monet, Johannes Vermeer, Julia Contacessi, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Vincent Van Gogh.

Samsung has also acquired modern paintings and abstract artwork from various painters and art partners, including Hyun Kim, Etsy, Magnum Photos, Saatchi Arti, and The Van Gogh Museum.

The Frame TV makes the digital copy of the artwork look like a physical painting by adjusting the screen’s brightness and colors to match the room’s ambient lighting via built-in sensors. When the TV senses (using the motion sensor) when someone is has entered the room, it turns on the display automatically and starts showing the selected artwork or painting. When the person leaves the room, the TV is turned off to save power.

Galaxy Watch 4 will tell you how close you are to your fat burning goals

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch Active 4 in early August 2021. Both smartwatches will run Google’s next-generation Wear OS platform and feature the One UI skin. While most of the features of the upcoming smartwatches were leaked already, a major new Galaxy Watch 4 feature has now surfaced online.

The Galaxy Watch 4 will reportedly come with a BIA (Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis) sensor, which can measure body fat composition. This information was revealed by tipster Max Weinbach. The BIA sensor can display a user’s body fat percentage in relation to lean body mass. It is an essential part of a person’s health and nutrition assessment. The Galaxy Watch 4 can help you understand how far away you are from your fat-burning goals.

Galaxy Watch 4 specs: What to expect?

It was rumored earlier this year that the Galaxy Watch 4 would feature blood glucose measurement, which can be very helpful to those who are suffering from diabetes. However, the feature was reportedly dropped for unknown reasons. Going by previous leaks and reports, the Galaxy Watch 4 will have a circular Super AMOLED display, accelerometer, barometer, gyro, GPS, heart-rate monitor, SpO2 reading, and sleep monitoring.

The Galaxy Watch 4 will come equipped with Samsung’s brand-new 5nm Exynos chipset. The watch is also rumored to feature a rotating bezel, an IP68 certification, LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 with LE, NFC (for Samsung Pay), loudspeaker, microphone, and Qi wireless charging. The Galaxy Watch Active 4, which lacks a rotating bezel, has a smaller screen and body when compared to the Galaxy Watch 4.
