If you were wondering what it takes to make the S6 edge, here it is

The Galaxy S6 edge arguably is the best looking Samsung yet. The company has made some good looking phones in the past, but none really come close to the Galaxy S6 edge — not just in terms of look, but also the feel.

Naturally, Samsung itself is quite proud of the product it has churned out in the S6 edge, and wants you to see what goes into making the smartphone. A new video posted by the company does just that, a look at which you can take after the end of this article. The video even details all of the material that is used to put together different components, along with what significance it holds.

Galaxy S6 edge Malaysian model to come in 64GB variant

Samsung’s been known for offering a microSD card slot with its various smartphone lineups, but the company decided to transition into a more conservative mode this year. The Korean manufacturer did increase the base storage of the Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge, but you’ll pay $50 more for double the storage as compared to the $599+ price tag offering for last year’s Galaxy S5. Look on the bright side, customers: you could spend another $100 for double the storage, like some other famous smartphone brand requires of its users (the name of the company will just stay between us).

In any case, Malaysian residents waiting to hear about higher-storage models will be pleased to know that the Galaxy S6 edge has been announced as having a 64GB variant available for residents in the country. The 64GB Galaxy S6 edge will cost RM3,599 which includes the Goods and Services Tax (or GST). Your choice of colors for the variant will be Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and White Pearl. We can’t tell you which color to choose, but we’ll say this: “gold” rushes exist for a reason.

Get your currency ready, as Samsung Malaysia says you’ll have to wait until mid-May to get your hands on the 64GB “hot potato.” Have you gone ahead and made the jump to the 32GB Galaxy S6 edge, or is the 64GB your storage sweet spot? Would you still want a 128GB model despite the announcement regarding a 64GB model? You know what to do in the comments.

Tizen-powered Z1 gets new update, Tizen store goes global

We here at SamMobile love to report on the latest updates for Android devices, seeing that Android constitutes a large part of Samsung sales. At the same time, however, we are quite fascinated with Tizen and what Samsung intends to do with its newfound OS as the days and months progress.

Samsung has been regularly updating its Z1 device (in India and Bangladesh), but a new update provided this week marks the beginning of a new chapter for Tizen and the Z1. The over-the-air (OTA) update comes in at a tiny 16.1MB and brings Samsung’s first Tizen-powered smartphone to Z130HDDU0BOD8. The update doesn’t bring anything major, but the incremental update should keep Samsung’s first smartphone in its new OS running fast and smooth.

The Korean manufacturer brings this update on the heels of having rolled out the Tizen store globally, with 182 new countries added to the list of Tizen store-accessible locations (Netherlands, UK, US, France, Russia, Australia, Malaysia, Serbia, Croatia, Thailand, Philippines, South Africa, UAE, and others). While global Z1 users can access the Tizen store and free apps, they cannot access paid apps at the moment.

It’s refreshing to see Samsung prepping its Tizen store for a global rollout, as this indicates that the Korean manufacturer intends to roll out its Tizen-powered devices worldwide in the months to come. We could be looking at a global Z2 or another mid-ranger with some seriously beefed-up specs. We’ll have to wait and see, but the possibilities are endless for now.

Google Drive file integration for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Google Drive is a great place in which to store needed files and documents, and the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, as Android devices, continue to push the best of Google cloud storage access. With the S6 or S6 edge being your new smartphone to travel with, you’ll want to make sure that your files saved with Google Drive are accessible and within reach.

One of the first things you’ll want to do after pulling your device out of the box and logging in with your Gmail account is connect to Google services (one of them being Google Drive). To achieve Google Drive file integration and bring your Google Drive files to your new Samsung device, you need only perform the following steps.

Google Drive file integration 1

Google Drive file integration 2

First, select cloud storage from the “My Files” menu. Next, you’ll need to connect to Google Drive over either Wi-Fi or 3G/4G/LTE. As you’ve seen it a number of times, Google Drive will present the following message if you use your internet data to connect: “Connecting to a mobile network may result in additional charges depending on your payment plan.” Select “ok” if you understand and still want to proceed. It may be best to go with Wi-Fi if your Wi-Fi access is excellent to save your 4G LTE data for another task.

You will then get to choose the account whose files you’d like to access on your S6 or S6 edge. Select the account, then click “ok.” After processing, Google Drive file integration is complete; you’ll find your Microsoft Word documents and others.
