‘Future TV Zone’ at Samsung’s CES 2016 booth show some of the company’s most forward thinking TV concepts

Samsung is a big player in the TV industry and every year at the Consumer Electronics Show it comes out with a new lineup that’s even better than the previous one. It goes without saying that the company wants to remain a big player in this market and to make that happen it needs to continuously innovate, to show that’s quite capable of doing that Samsung has installed a “Future TV Zone” at its CES 2016 booth where it’s showcasing some of the most forward-thinking TV concepts it has ever produced.

Future TV Zone is focused around modular display technology that allows multiple screens in various shaps and sizes to combine and create an entirely customizable TV based on the user’s lifestyle and the content they’re watching. Once concept features the world’s largest SUHD TV, it’s a 170-inch display with Modular technology, providing the ultimate life-sized video experience as it gives viewers the illusion of actually being inside the video. The transformable TV is able to change its shape based on the content being displayed so it can easily adapt to provide the best viewing experience for a high action movie, a big sports event or even the news. It can easily switch between 16:9 and 21:9 screen ratio by splitting the screen into two parts and reassembling on the sides.

CES 2016 visitors can check out these concepts in person at Samsung’s booth from January 6-9 at Booth #11906, in Tech East, LVCC, Central Hall. For all of you who aren’t in Las Vegas, Samsung has a posted a video online.

Samsung’s new infographic introduces the Galaxy TabPro S

There’s always a lot of information coming out during CES week so it’s quite usual for things to get buried, but Samsung wants to make sure that you’re aware of the fact that it has launched a new Windows 10-powered tablet called the Galaxy TabPro S. It’s a 12-inch premium tablet that’s powered by the latest iteration of Windows and is actually quite similar to Microsoft’s Surface tablet-laptop hybrids. What’s better than creating colorful infographics to detail exactly what your product is capable of doing and that’s precisely what Samsung has done so that you don’t forget to consider the Galaxy TabPro S when you’re in the market for a new tablet.

Samsung provides earnings guidance for Q4 2015

Analysts had predicted that Samsung wouldn’t be able to match or go beyond the operating profit it showed in Q3 2015 and their prediction has turned out to be true. Samsung has now provided its official earnings guidance for the fourth quarter of 2015, it expects to rake in about 6.1 trillion Korean won ($5.1 billion) in consolidated operating profit against 53 trillion Korean won ($44 billion) in consolidated sales.

The figures represent a 15% increase in profit year-over-year, since Samsung didn’t have a particularly nice run in Q4 2014, but also represent a 7.5% when compared to the operating profit it posted in the previous quarter. Even though the company is ready to put 2015 behind it, it’s already being very cautious about 2016, with co-CEO Kwon Oh-hyun telling employees that global growth is going to remain a concern for Samsung throughout this year. Samsung is going to reveal the full figures that show precisely how it did in the fourth quarter of 2015 by the end of this month.

Galaxy S7 rumors are likely based on different prototypes and maybe not everything is true

The way the rumor mill has been running recently, you would think the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are set to be the most perfect smartphones Samsung will ever churn out. Water-resistance, a microSD slot, extra large batteries (especially for a 5.1-inch phone), the latest processors, Samsung’s perfect displays, 4GB of RAM, fast and optimized software, brilliant cameras with great low-light performance – everything is said to be part of the S7 and S7 edge for the same price as previous flagships. 2015′s Galaxy flagships neared perfection in many ways, and all the leaks would make you believe Samsung will be fixing all the shortcomings this year.

But before we get all excited (okay, so most of us are already too excited), we should keep in mind that Samsung (and other manufacturers) goes through many prototypes of a flagship before the final product comes out, and even during development, work goes on on different prototypes at all times. All these rumors that have been floating around? It’s likely some of the stuff mentioned in these reports will not make it through to the end of the development cycle.

Samsung has gotten a bit laxed in recent times when it comes to hiding its upcoming devices, but nothing is ever certain until the company makes an official announcement at its Unpacked events, or until people get access to these devices just a day before announcement and decide to reveal everything. For the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, there’s just too much information that seems too good to be true and it’s highly likely some of it is based off prototypes that won’t be the device that will go on sale in the coming month or so.

Our sources often come through with all the titbits they offer us, but at this point even we are not ready to believe that the avalanche of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge information might be spot on. It’s only a few weeks before the two devices are supposedly set to go official, and we should all be prepared for the fact that the S7 and S7 edge might not be the smartphones these rumors are making them out to be.

What do you think? Are you taking all the reports coming out about the S7 and S7 edge seriously, or are you surrounding yourself with salt containers as each new day brings us more details on the devices?

Samsung’s new video for CES 2016 shows the company’s history of innovation

Samsung just rolled out its latest video advertisement for CES 2016, and it focuses on the history of Samsung and how it always sought to innovate the technology market. It begins with 1983 when Samsung established its semiconductor business. It then continues throughout the years with innovating ideas from the South Korean giant such as smartwatches, smart TVs and smartphones. Now, Samsung is looking towards the future with smart houses and smart cities according to its latest video.

It plans on accomplishing this through its Internet of Things (IoT) network which interconnects all devices in your household. Putting the video ad aside, it’s true that Samsung has been huge on innovation. Its unreleased SUHD got the CES 2016 Best of Innovation award and the Boston Consulting Group sees Samsung, Apple and Google as the top tech companies when it comes to innovation. The Gear VR headset is Samsung’s latest step in innovating the tech world and we can’t wait to see what Samsung has in store for the future.

Here’s how you can customize notifications on the Samsung Gear S2

Smartwatch makers often stress the design language of these new mobile devices, but most consumers buy a smartwatch for not only design appeal but also notifications. After all, if watches are to be as smart as “smartphones,” and smartphones include notifications, then smartwatches should have no less.

What should also impress smartwatch owners is that smartwatches can have customized notifications similar to smartwatches; you need only customize notifications on Samsung’s latest smartwatch, the Gear S2, to have the personal experience you want. In this latest Tips and Tricks post, we show you how to customize notifications on the Gear S2 so that you only get buzzed at the times you want for the apps you want.

To customize notifications on the Gear S2, you’ll need to make sure your Gear S2 smartwatch is connected via Bluetooth to your smartphone. Once you connect your Gear S2 to your Android smartphone, you’ll see the Gear Manager app pop up on your smartphone and head right into your smartwatch settings.

Here's how you can customize notifications on the Samsung Gear S2

Gear Manager notification settingsWhen inside Gear Manager settings, select “Notifications,” then “Manage notifications” at the top of the notification settings. You should see the number of apps listed below the option in gray letters.

Upon arriving in your notifications, select the ones you want to notify you by selecting the square boxes to the left of the app name. Once you’ve selected all the app notifications you want, tap “done” at the top right. You can then exit the Gear Manager app or head back to Gear Manager settings.
