SM-G885 sails through Bluetooth SIG as the Galaxy A Star

In the last few weeks, a Galaxy device with the model number SM-G885 has surfaced online. Initially, it was believed to be a high-end device with the Galaxy S9+ specs and an iPhone-like design. Proving all the rumors wrong, the TENNA listing for the device, however, mentioned mid-range specs. The specifications point to an upgraded Galaxy A8+ (2018) and thus rumored to launch as the Galaxy A8 Star.

Comes with Bluetooth v5.0

The device has now been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG website, sporting the moniker Galaxy A Star. While the Bluetooth certification confirms that the SM-G885 model will indeed be a Galaxy A series device, it is still not clear if it will launch as the Galaxy A Star or Galaxy A8 Star (as rumored earlier). Other than the fact that the device will come with Bluetooth v5.0, nothing else is revealed about the device from the certification listing.

Right from the beginning, all the rumors about the device pointed to a model targeted at the Chinese market. The certification listing, however, contains international and Chinese variants of the SM-G885 model, hinting at wider availability beyond China. From the earlier reports, we know that the device will sport a 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity Display, dual-camera setup on the back, 3,700 mAh battery, Exynos 7885 SoC, and 4 or 6 GB of RAM. Since the device has already reached the certification stage, the official launch should be around the corner.

Best power banks for the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ (2018)

Many of Samsung’s mid-range smartphones no longer have removable batteries which means you can no longer carry around a spare battery and pop it in whenever your phone runs out of charge. That is the case with the Galaxy A8 and the Galaxy A8+ (2018) and while their 3,000mAh and 3,500mAh batteries respectively will get you through the day, some of you might still be searching for the best power banks for Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ (2018).

Why you should buy a power bank:

External power banks can prove to be quite useful if you don’t have any problems carrying them around. They tend to have higher capacities which means that they can be used to charge one device multiple times or even charge multiple devices at the same time. They’re easier to live with than a battery case as well since you can just disconnect and leave the power bank behind when it’s not fulfilling its purpose.
