“Try before you buy”: Galaxy S6, S6 edge kiosks go live in Canada

Ever noticed how Samsung always has an “Experience” app that arrives at the Google Play Store before the company’s newest flagships debut? Consumers didn’t get an S6 Experience app, but the devices themselves have sure won a lot of attention.

April 10th is the magic day for Canadian residents to get their hands on the new Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, but what can you do until then? Most individuals have read reviews and poured over every piece of information they can get on the new devices. Canadian, residents, however, now have one new advantage over the rest of the world: they can now “try before they buy” in their country.

Rogers and Bell Canada have both confirmed their Galaxy S6 and S6 edge kiosks are available, with Rogers Canada going so far as to provide a sheet layout of stores where Samsung’s two new models are available: Halifax Shopping Centre, Lime Ridge Mall, Bloor East, Cross Iron Mills, Polo Park Shopping Centre, Royal York, and Square One, among others, along with set address locations, cities, and provinces for these stores.

Bell Canada has Galaxy S6, S6 edge kiosks set up in Calgary, Edmonton, and the Greater Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto areas.

It is expected that other Canadian carriers now have kiosks available as well, though we’ve yet to receive any details as to whether or not their kiosks are yet available.

Make your way out to a carrier store near you to get a hands-on experience with these two devices. Let us know whether seeing them up-close met, surpassed, or underwhelmed your expectations. Visit the links below to find out more location details.

Galaxy S6, S6 edge pre-order available in South Africa

We’ve seen Italy, Switzerland, and Canada launch their Galaxy S6 and S6 edge pre-orders. Now, the pre-order baton falls to South Africa.

According to the source, South African carriers Vodacom and MTN have both announced their pre-order registrations for Samsung’s latest and greatest devices. Apparently, the source also states that both carriers have bundled Samsung’s wireless charging pad with the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge as a means to encourage additional pre-orders for the devices.

Just in time for encouraging pre-orders, Samsung also launched an online repair booking system in the country that’s designed to help consumers get their devices fixed quickly. Consumers can simply manage their repairs by logging onto the site and registering their devices. Once online, the user can access the booking form and submit the model and serial number of the device to receive a reference number, according to Samsung Electronics SA Service Director Richard Chetty. Along with the free wireless charging pad for Vodacom and MTN customers, Samsung has promised to provide two free device repairs for buyers of the S6 and S6 edge.

While US customers have to wait for their devices until April 11, South African customers can expect to see Samsung’s latest in the country on April 10.

If you’re a South African resident that’s been waiting for your chance, here it is. Stay tuned to SamMobile as we bring you all the latest in pre-order registrations for Samsung’s new premium flagships.

Canadian Gold Platinum Galaxy S6, S6 edge color now available for pre-order

Samsung has taken the wraps off its latest devices, and they’re both lookers in their own right. The team here at SamMobile has quite a crush on the Green Emerald S6 edge, and the White Pearl and Black Sapphire are excellent for those who like devices in black and white colors. We’re not knocking black and white, but those colors are typical for most smartphones nowadays.

Fortunately, for those who want a little color variety, White Pearl and Black Sapphire aren’t the only colors available for both the S6 and the S6 edge. Gold Platinum, like Black Sapphire and White Pear, is a color native to both devices, while our favorite, the Green Emerald, is native to only the S6 edge. Samsung Canada has finally announced that the Gold Platinum color is available for pre-order, along with the White and Black versions that have been up for pre-order for some time now.

The Gold Platinum is a bold color (like the Green Emerald) for those who want their smartphones to make a fashion as well as tech statement for the next two years (or six months, if you’re a tech enthusiast who’ll trade up for the Galaxy Note 5). Between the airplane metal casing underneath and the luscious Gorilla Glass 4 wrapped around the entire device, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s “Six Appeal” will shimmer in the sun and indoors.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are available in the UK, Switzerland, Canada, to name a few countries, but both S6 models are expected to go on sale on April 11th, with 20 countries expected to start selling them on the first day.

Samsung secretly announces the Galaxy Tab A in Russia

We told you the Galaxy Tab A and Tab A Plus tablet lineups were in the works, and Samsung has now announced the former at a press event in Russia. The Galaxy Tab A will be offered in 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants, and as we had confirmed in our exclusive leak, the tablets will have displays with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The Galaxy Tab A lineup will be priced at around Euro 300 and will be launched in blue and gold color variants sometime later this year.

The hardware on the Galaxy Tab A includes displays with a resolution of 1024×768 pixels, an unknown Cortex-A53 processor, 4G connectivity, and 5-megapixel and 2-megapixel rear and front cameras. As our sources told us before, there should also be 16GB of internal storage, and 4,200 mAh and 6,000 mAh batteries on the 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants respectively. Everything is packed under bodies that are only 7.5 mm thick.

Both tablets support wireless charging like the Galaxy S6, and as can be seen in the pictures, they also seem to run on the latest version of TouchWiz, which Samsung says is less bloated and more optimized than previous versions. More information on the Galaxy Tab A should be cropping up as the day goes by, so be sure to tune back in to SamMobile for all the nitty-gritty details.
