Samsung might not launch Galaxy S21 FE in some markets due to chip shortage

Samsung had originally planned to launch the Galaxy S21 FE alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 in August. However, it was recently revealed that the Galaxy S21 FE launch was postponed to Q4 of 2021. Now, it is being reported that the company might not launch the smartphone in some key markets.

According to an exclusive report from FNNews, Samsung is considering launching the Galaxy S21 FE in October 2021, and the launch could be limited to Europe and the US. It means that the smartphone might not make it to Africa, Asia (including South Korea), Australia, Canada, and South America. The reason behind this limited launch is attributed to the ongoing global chip shortage.

The Galaxy S21 FE reportedly uses the 5nm Snapdragon 888 processor, and Samsung is unable to acquire enough chips to make it a worldwide launch. Industry insiders also claim that the chip shortage is so severe that the South Korean firm might ship fewer units of the Galaxy S21 FE to Europe and the US than it had initially planned.

Galaxy S21 FE specs (expected)

According to previous reports, the Galaxy S21 FE features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 120Hz refresh rate and in-display fingerprint reader. The phone has 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. It has a 32MP selfie camera and a 12MP triple-camera setup at the rear. It could also feature stereo speakers, an IP67/68 certification, and Samsung Pay.

It could run Android 11 with One UI 3.1.1 out of the box. The phone’s connectivity features could include 5G, LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. A 4,500mAh battery powers the phone, and it supports 25W fast wired charging, 15W fast wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

Will S Pen support be the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s killer feature? I don’t think so

In case you’ve missed this week’s news, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is all but confirmed to feature S Pen support. A pretty compelling item to add to the list of reasons to buy Samsung’s next flagship, some would say. But is it, really? Moreover, why won’t the Galaxy Z Flip 3 follow suit?

Probably because the addition of S Pen functionality to a foldable device will hardly result in something beyond a mere gimmick. As Samsung already demonstrated with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the allure of the Galaxy Note series wasn’t in the stylus itself. It was in a combination of having access to the stylus whenever you needed it and not worrying about it when you didn’t. The finnicky nature of holstering the stylus inside of a bulky case felt like a step backwards compared to simply having an S Pen slot built into the smartphone itself.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen

The gimmicky aftertaste this feature left us with on the Galaxy S21 Ultra isn’t likely to get much better once you halve the device surface area and have to resort to unconventional protective cases, each with their own quirks. This goes for both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3, though only the former will launch with S Pen support.

It’s not just about the convenience, but a lack of inconvenience

Compare that to the Galaxy Note series which addresses the issue of holstering the stylus with a built-in slot. As a long-time Galaxy Note user, I’m the first to admit that I’ve been taking that feature for granted all these years. But after seeing the way it works on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, I’m feeling pretty disillusioned. Because by getting rid of the only native method of holstering the S Pen, Samsung turned its stylus from a killer feature to a PopSockets-like gimmick in one swift move. Sure, it’s still useful in certain scenarios but just having it on you is a mild inconvenience at best and not worth the trade-off at worst.

In fact, not even the PopSockets comparison might be entirely fair; at least a PopSocket was already “ready for use” by virtue of being on your phone. And at least a PopSocket never had a more capable predecessor. One with, say, Bluetooth support and all the bells and whistles enabled by that luxury. In my mind, there can be no talk of a Galaxy Note replacement until Samsung addresses the issue of where the S Pen goes when not in use. This is at least as important as the actual functionality of the stylus, arguably more.

As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to launch in August, equipped with a 7.5-inch Super AMOLED display offering support for HDR10+ and a 120Hz refresh rate, as well as a 6.2-inch Infinity-O cover display. A 4,400mAh battery, 12GB of RAM, at least 256GB of storage space, and the Snapdragon 888+ are all said to be part of the package, as well. As you can tell from that spec sheet alone, the added S Pen support seems like one of the few truly novel additions to the new Galaxy Z Fold generation, especially with an under-display camera looking unlikely based on the latest leaks. All the more reason for Samsung to get it right… right?

BREAKING: Come and see the Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen!

Well, it seems the floodgates are now well and truly open. Samsung’s upcoming foldables were pictured in a newly leaked render published by @evleaks just some minutes back, revealing that one of the most anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 3 features may not actually make the cut. Now, another Galaxy Z Fold 3 render has been revealed, and we are getting to see its S Pen in all its glory for the first time.

In case you haven’t been keeping track, Samsung’s next Galaxy Z Fold flagship will support the company’s industry-defining stylus, something rumors have been pointing out for months on end and was confirmed earlier today thanks to the new foldable’s FCC certification. We’ve also seen the Z Fold 3’s S Pen in previously leaked images, but that was merely a small glimpse compared to what we’re getting to see today.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen

As you can see in the picture above, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen has the text “Fold Edition” on the side, but it otherwise seems to have the same design as the S Pen that Samsung sells for the Galaxy S21 Ultra and bundles with its tablets. Yes, it’s bigger than the S Pen you get on Galaxy Note smartphones, and that’s because the Z Fold 3 won’t have a built-in slot to store the stylus. That will probably always be exclusive to the Note series, at least until that series continues to exist (there’s no new Note this year, but there will likely be one next year).

The S Pen will likely be a separate purchase, though it could be offered for free to those who pre-order the Z Fold 3. A special case that can hold the S Pen will no doubt be one of the accessory options provided by Samsung, similar to the one that you can buy for the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Are you looking forward to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and its S Pen support?

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is on sale for an unbelievable price

Everyone (ourselves included) is waiting with bated breath for Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S8 series to roll out. However, their predecessors, the Galaxy Tab S7+ in particular, is still the best Android tablet that one can buy. Its asking price is a tad too high for many, though. However, you can now buy the Galaxy Tab S7+ for the low price of $642 on Amazon U.S., which is nearly $200 cheaper than its original price. In all likelihood, Samsung could be looking to make room for its next generation of tablets, so this opportunity may not arrive again.

Our Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ review determined that it checks all the boxes for a high-end tablet, and can even serve as a laptop replacement in some cases, thanks to Samsung DeX and the optional keyboard accessory. It is not often that you get a device that packs a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865+ SoC, a crisp 12.4-inch 16:10 AMOLED panel clocked at 120Hz, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and a colossal 10,090mAh battery that charges at 45W for $642.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Tab S7+ also lets creative professionals have free reign over their content, thanks to its ability to work with an S Pen. Not only is it remarkably larger than the S Pen found in Galaxy Note devices, it is also packed to the brim with new features and works with a wide variety of creative apps that can bring your designs to life.

Did this Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 leak confirm a big feature cut?

There have been a few leaks concerning the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 over the past few weeks. Nothing substantial has emerged so far, however, we have seen some renders of both devices already. It’s clear to everyone that the new foldables come with big design changes.

There’s been a major leak today which gives us a good look at both of the foldable smartphones. It also raises some confusion about one of the big new features that Samsung was expected to introduce with the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Big Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 leak surfaces

Published online by @evleaks, this leaked render of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 reveals two things. Firstly, it’s consistent with the design we have seen in the renders leaked previously. So there’s a good chance now that what we see here is what we’ll get.

Multiple reports have suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will come with UPC. What that means is that the selfie camera on the foldable display will be placed under the actual display panel. This would enable the device to be completely notchless with very slim bezels. Images leaked several weeks ago appeared to show the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s Under Panel Camera.

If you look closely at this render, you’ll notice that it doesn’t seem to have a UPC. It appears to be a standard punch hole setup. It could be that the render is merely just showing where the UPC will be located and how it will look when the camera is enabled. The Under Panel Camera otherwise stays hidden at all times.

The other possibility is that the earlier whispers about the Galaxy Z Fold 3 featuring UPC were incorrect. That could very well be true as we won’t know for sure until the device leaks on video or it ends up being officially unveiled. No surprises here for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The design is exactly what other leaked images have revealed.

Samsung is due to unveil the new foldable smartphones in August. Rumors suggest that the company will likely release it on August 27.

Instagram could soon force unwanted content between your friends’ posts

It seems a set of Instagram users were a bit too fond of the ‘Suggested Content’ that the app threw at them.  A small portion of users will now be able to get more suggested content on their feed (via The Verge) and even tailor it to their linking. Currently, Instagram decides what content is best for you based on its algorithms. Soon, you’ll be able to select the topics yourself via the settings. While the prospect of better controlling what you see on Instagram is a promising one, there is one major caveat.

Some of the suggested content that you sign up for could take priority over your friend’s posts. While you can snooze, or outright block, posts that you don’t like, the idea of Instagram prioritizing content it deems ‘important’ over your friends’ is rather ludicrous. Instagram’s timeline is already a mess, with users getting little to no say over what they get to see. At the very least, Facebook lets you arrange content chronologically.

Thankfully, the aforementioned changes to the Instagram News Feed will not roll out to a wider audience until much later. For now, only a handful of selected users will be able to try it out. It would be ideal if Instagram lets you get rid of all suggested content altogether, but that is very unlikely to happen. While we’re on the topic, be sure to follow SamMobile on Instagram to get your latest dose of all things Samsung delivered straight to your feed.

A new Samsung Internet feature (bookmark bar) is now available for everyone

Samsung has two versions of its Internet app on the Galaxy Store and the Google Play Store. Samsung Internet beta is the one that is used to introduce and test new features before they eventually make their way to the stable version of the app. Today, one feature that has been available on the beta app for the last couple of months has arrived on the non-beta Samsung Internet app.

Bookmark bar enables quick access to favorite websites

This feature is the option to add a persistent bookmark bar to the top of the browser, similar to bookmark bars seen in desktop browsers, so you can quickly open your favorite website with a single click. Naturally, given the limited screen estate on phones, the bookmark bar is better suited to tablets, but with the latest version of Samsung Internet, it’s there if you need it no matter how big or small your mobile device may be.

To enable the bookmark bar, you need to go into the app’s settings, navigate to Appearance, and tap the Show bookmark bar option and select Always. To remove it, just change that from Always to Never. Once enabled, you can add whichever website you may be browsing at the time to the bookmark bar by tapping the hamburger button (the three parallel lines), tapping Add page to (the button with the big plus sign), and selecting Bookmark bar.

samsung internet bookmark bar

The new Samsung Internet update also enhances the ‘continue apps on other devices’ feature. For those who didn’t know, Samsung Internet can sync tabs across different Galaxy devices signed in to the same Samsung account, and now, the syncing should extend to the exact page position. To view all synced tabs, you need to hit the tabs icon at the top right of the screen to view all open tabs, tap the More button (the three vertical dots), and select Synced tabs.

The latest Samsung Internet app (version 14.2.1.69) can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store or the Google Play Store. It’s also available for manual download from our APK archives.

This new Indian smartphone could shake ultra-budget Samsung offerings to their core

India’s largest telecom operator Reliance Jio held its AGM (annual general meeting) today, where it shed light on what the company has in store in the coming year. It took the opportunity to unveil a low-cost Android smartphone called the JioPhone Next. It is, for all intents and purposes, the successor of the massive successful KaiOS-powered JioPhone. Unfortunately, a lot of the JioPhone Next specs are shrouded by mystery at the moment. Reliance Jio neglected to get into specifics but confirmed that it is working with Google to develop the smartphone.

For starters, the JioPhone Next will very likely run Android Go out of the box, similar to what we’ve seen on ultra-low-cost Samsung smartphones such as the Galaxy M01 Core and Galaxy A01 Core. The former costs around Rs 4,999 in India, and we can expect the JioPhone next to cost lower than that. Reliance Jio is all about budget offerings and can easily undercut any competition, more so in the ultra-low-cost segment.

The only concrete information we have about the JioPhone Next that it will ship with Snapchat-esque AR filters, Google Assistant, and support for local Indian languages. It goes without saying that the smartphone will ship with a metric ton of Jio-branded bloatware, and there’s a high chance that it will be designed to exclusively run Jio SIM cards. This could be a silver lining for the Galaxy M01 Core and its kin, as they offer a lot more flexibility (and less bloatware) compared to the JioPhone Next. We should know more about the device sometime as its September 10 launch date approaches.

Samsung going all in on foldables amid global chip shortage is pretty gutsy

You may have grown tired of hearing about the global chip shortage by now but there’s no escaping reality. There’s an incredible semiconductor shortage that’s delaying everything from phones, laptops, gaming consoles and GPUs to cars.

Even though it’s one of the leading semiconductor manufacturers, Samsung has also been impacted by the chip shortage. Its new laptops are still hard to find in many countries. The company has also had to shake up its smartphone plans for 2021 due to the shortage.

Samsung had confirmed quite early this year that it won’t release a new Galaxy Note flagship in 2021 due to the chip shortage. That was a big decision by the company. The Galaxy Note series consistently ranks among the best selling Samsung phones. It has a very dedicated customer base that swear by the phablet.

Yet the company has decided to take a gamble and not give them a new Galaxy Note this year. We have also heard that the Galaxy S21 FE launch has been delayed to Q4 2021. The chip shortage is the main reason why Samsung’s affordable flagship won’t be launching earlier as it was supposed to.

Like Samsung, other companies are also have to deal with the shortage. Its semiconductor division is likely doing all that it can to ensure that customers who have contracted chip manufacturing to Samsung are able to receive them. If that requires devoting more production capacity to customers at the expense of fewer chips being supplied to Samsung’s own mobile division, so be it.

Samsung wants to increase its market share in the contract semiconductor manufacturing industry. It’s a very lucrative business and there’s a lot of room for Samsung to grow there. It also has contractual obligations to customers who are paying Samsung to manufacture their chips. Perhaps that’s why Samsung’s mobile division isn’t able to get the amount of chips that it needs.

This has forced the mobile division to switch up its plans for the year. Instead of playing it safe, it decided to take a very gutsy approach during a worldwide chip shortage. Samsung is going all in on foldable smartphones. Evidently, it wanted to ensure that the chip shortage won’t impact its foldable smartphones.

So it scrapped the Galaxy Note 21 series and delayed the Galaxy S21 FE, risking the obscene amount of money these devices would have made in the process. If anything, this demonstrates the seriousness with which Samsung believes foldables to be the future of smartphones.

The company already feels pretty confident that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are going to perform very well in the market. It expects to ship 7 million units combined of the new devices. Both devices are in mass production at rates that are already breaking Samsung’s previous records. It just can’t make them fast enough, it seems.

The shortage also presents Samsung with an opportunity to establish itself as a true trailblazer in the industry. Other OEMs are struggling due to the shortage as well. They’re playing it safe and not launching groundbreaking new products. There’s still no real competitor for Samsung’s foldables in the market.

That’s why it’s so impressive what Samsung is doing. It might sound like high praise but think about it. Is there any other OEM risking as much as Samsung has just to bring something new to the market? In our view, this gutsy move makes Samsung the clear winner, at least as far as driving innovation is concerned. Even during a pandemic and a global chip shortage, instead of playing it safe, Samsung is showing rivals how it’s done.

You’ll soon be able to follow SamMobile directly from Google Chrome

The latest beta version of Google Chrome adds the ability to follow RSS feeds and have their stories appear on your new tab pages. Meaning this is yet another great way to follow SamMobile if you so choose to. Or rather, it’s going to be, as soon as Google gets the feature actually working, which will hopefully happen in the coming hours.

Launching the Chrome Android app and trying to follow any source right now results in a vague error saying: “Can’t follow. Something went wrong.” We’re presumably waiting for Google to flip some server-side switch here. Because the feature, experimental as it may be, seems to be ready for beta testing otherwise. In order to enable it, download the latest beta version of Chrome from the Play Store, then go to “chrome://flags” (type it in the URL field) and search for “feed” functionality. This will toggle a new item at the very bottom of the three-dot menu that you can access on any page inside the browser.

Is the feature already working on your end?

Refer to the screenshots below if you need more guidance on how to enable native RSS support inside the Android version of Chrome. And if you need a convenient way to follow SamMobile right now, our Telegram channel and social media accounts allow you to do just that.

As for the Chrome functionality at hand, we’d certainly love for Samsung Internet to implement something of the sort in the near future. So long as it allows us granular control over the output in the vein of what this feature seems to be promising.

Waiting for One UI 3.5? You might never get it

If the latest rumor is to be believed, there may be no version 3.5 of Samsung’s One UI later this year. We’ve been expecting Samsung’s new flagships that will launch in the second half of the year to come with One UI 3.5, in line with how the flagships that launched a year back debuted with One UI 2.5 and the ones in 2019 launched running One UI 1.5. Well, things could get a little complex this year, with Samsung reportedly working on One UI 3.1.1 before it eventually debuts One UI 4.0 with the Android 12 update.

3.1.1 could be the next One UI release

The information comes from leakster Ice universe, though there’s no reason given for why Samsung is suddenly changing the way it assigns version numbers to One UI releases. If we had to guess, it could have something to do with the fact that Samsung is launching considerably fewer flagship phones this year than it has in the last couple of years. There’s no new Note series incoming in 2021, and the Galaxy S21 FE has reportedly been delayed, leaving only Samsung’s two new foldable phones.

It’s possible those foldables will not have enough new features, at least not those that will arrive on non-folding devices, to warrant a big enough One UI version jump. Or, well, Samsung is simply changing how it does things and will do away with x.5 One UI releases altogether. In any case, if One UI 3.1.1 is what’s next, we can expect Samsung to bring it to many of its smartphones and tablets before it starts rolling out Android 12 and One UI 4.0. However, nothing is confirmed at this point, so take everything with a pinch of salt.

Galaxy A20 gets Android 11 with June 2021 security update in India

Both Android 11 and the June 2021 security update are now reaching Galaxy A20 owners in India. Identified by PDA version A205FXXUACUF3, Samsung’s latest firmware release has been deploying in the country as of today. This particular release has first debuted in Russia some two weeks back, but we haven’t heard much about its scope expanding in the meantime.

As for the June 2021 security update, the newest system patch level has been rolling out worldwide for a few days by now. Over that period, Samsung started nearly 200 other deployments across 34 countries, including the one at hand.

This rollout’s been ongoing for a few weeks now, Android 11 in tow

This is expected to be the Galaxy A20’s final major OS upgrade, though the smartphone should still keep receiving security updates for a few more years. Still, this level of support is pretty much unheard of outside of Samsung’s portfolio. You could argue Apple is a bit better in this regard, but Apple doesn’t sell sub-$200 phones.

Are you feeling particularly impatient to get your hands on the June 2021 security update for your Galaxy A20? Well then, there are a few things for you to try before resorting to simply waiting for the rollout to reach you naturally. The most straightforward way to speed things up is to go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Right now, this is most likely to work if you’re located in India or Russia. Failing that, our firmware archives are at your disposal; simply download the full system images for your Galaxy A20 and flash them to the device manually.

Exclusive: Galaxy S21 Android 12 One UI 4.0 update codename drops hint

Google may have launched the Android 12 beta but it’s going to take some time before Samsung Galaxy users can get a taste of the new update. Samsung doesn’t take part in Google’s beta program. It conducts its own.

The Android 12 update will be accompanied by One UI 4.0. It’s going to be a major upgrade for Samsung’s custom Android skin. We have come across the codename for the project which drops a big hint about what we can expect to see from One UI 4.0.

Galaxy S21 Android 12 One UI 4.0 codename revealed

It was reported earlier this week that Samsung has already started working on the Galaxy S21 Android 12 update. It’s important to note that work on this update has begun about a month earlier than it did for the Galaxy S20 Android 11 update last year.

We hear that the Android 12 One UI 4.0 update project has been assigned the codename “Palette” at Samsung. Does this hint at a visual revamp for Samsung’s custom skin? That’s entirely possible, considering that One UI 4.0 will be a major upgrade.

Such a revamp is only done with every major iteration of One UI. We have seen big changes being made in the past when One UI moved from version 2.x to 3.x, for example. There’s going to be a minor update before version 4.x. The Android 11-based One UI 3.5 will arrive with the new foldable smartphones in August.

Samsung isn’t expected to launch the One UI 4.0 beta for the Galaxy S21 before the end of this year. If history is any indication, the beta would be opened around October 2021. The update would likely be released for the public either by the end of December or early next year.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 gains FCC certification ahead of August launch

Samsung will unveil two new foldable smartphones—Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3—in August 2021. The design and specifications of both upcoming foldable smartphones have been leaked already. Thanks to the FCC certification, it was confirmed earlier today that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 supports the S Pen. Now, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has passed through the FCC test, confirming some of its features.

The US variants of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (SM-F711U and SM-F711U1) received the FCC certification earlier today. The documentation reveals that the foldable phone supports eleven 5G bands, fifteen LTE bands, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth (with EDR and LE), NFC, and 9W Qi wireless charging. An earlier certification (CCC) had revealed a few days ago that the phone supports fast wired charging (at 15W).

Galaxy Z Flip 3 specs

Going by earlier leaks and reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. On the front, it could come with a larger cover display (1.83-inch) compared to its predecessor. The foldable could come equipped with the Snapdragon 888, 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. The phone could be 20% cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 could have a 10MP selfie camera on the foldable screen and a 12MP+12MP dual-camera setup on the rear (when opened). Both front and rear-facing cameras could be capable of recording 4K 60fps videos. Other features could include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, USB 3.1 Type-C port, Samsung Pay, and an official IP rating for dust and water resistance. It lacks UWB, though.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 confirmed to get S Pen support, UWB, and more

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 3 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in August 2021. Ahead of the launch event, most of the features and specifications of the device have been leaked, along with its design. It can now be confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be Samsung’s first foldable phone with S Pen support.

The US variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (SM-F926U) received the FCC certification earlier today, and the supporting documentation reveals a lot of exciting information. The foldable smartphone features 5G (mmWave and sub-6GHz), 4G LTE, CDMA, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, NFC, and UWB. It will also be Samsung’s first foldable smartphone to come with S Pen support. It also supports 9W Qi wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

The FCC certification documents reveal that the device features a digitizer function that operates with the S Pen via inductive coupling (which is how S Pen always works). However, the S Pen might not come bundled with the device, and it may not have a dedicated silo to store the stylus. Like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung might sell an additional case for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 that can hold the S Pen.

Galaxy Z Fold 3 expected specs

Going by previous reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 features a 6.2-inch cover display (Super AMOLED Infinity-O) and a 7.5-inch Super AMOLED foldable display. Both screens are said to feature a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The phone might come equipped with a Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB storage, stereo speakers, and an official IP rating.

The phone could feature a 16MP under-display camera below the internal foldable display, a 10MP selfie camera on the cover display, and a 12MP+12MP+12MP triple-camera setup at the rear. The phone will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery and feature 25W fast charging.

Android 11 update starts rolling out to Galaxy XCover 4s

Samsung has already released the Android 11 update to most of its compatible smartphones and tablets. However, there are still a few devices that have not received the update yet. The South Korean firm has now started rolling out the Android 11-based One UI 3 update to the Galaxy XCover 4s, which is a rugged smartphone.

The Galaxy XCover 4s has started getting a major new software update in Poland. The latest software, which bears firmware version G398FNXXUCCUF4, brings Android 11 (One UI 3.1) to the smartphone. It also includes the June 2021 security patch. After installing this update, the rugged smartphone should get a refreshed UI design and updated stock apps. One-time permissions, auto permissions reset, chat bubbles, conversations section in the notifications area, a dedicated media playback widget below quick setting toggles, and easier access to smart home device controls should also be a part of the software.

The new update should also bring the ability to remove GPS location data from images while sharing them, more Dynamic Lockscreen options, redesigned Device Care menu, improved Samsung Keyboard and Samsung Internet apps, and improved Digital Wellbeing and parental controls to the device. Thanks to the June 2021 security patch, the phone gets dozens of bug fixes related to privacy and security vulnerabilities.

If you are a Galaxy XCover 4s user in Poland, an OTA update could hit your device very soon. If you don’t want to wait for the update, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
